Shocked This Didn't Happen Sooner Part 9

Duplication is not a power that comes easily nor naturally to Danny and so his focus was split along with the physical strain of keeping a clone up and running mostly independently. So one could forgive how short he'd been with the police officers when he went to get Jack out of prison. It was actually really easy. Phantom simply walked into the police precinct, literally phasing his way through the lobby walls to loudly state who he was and why he was there.
Danny was… shocked by the response from the police and the few civilians in the lobby.
Cheering, honest to god cheering for his presence.
Phantom stood there in the lobby while police walked up to him, slapping him on his back and congratulating him on his return. It was quite possibly the most positive attention he'd ever received from strangers. Nobody was screaming, nobody was yelling at him, nobody was pointing guns at him. It was… refreshing. It was nice. Danny could feel his core humming in his chest while he was thanked for the years of service that he'd given protecting the town and the surrounding communities.
"I- yes. As pleasant as this is. I'm hear about Jack Fenton." Phantom declared, his face still slightly green in a blush from all of the praise.
"Fenton? Yeah, we had him in for questioning with relation to well… Trying to kill you." One of the officers said sheepishly. "And well, about that. I speak for everyone here when we say… We're sorry. We all drank the kool-ade from the GIW and the Fentons. That you and the rest of the ghosts were nothing but obsessive, violent echoes of people. We blamed all of the ghost problems on well… All of the ghosts. Nobody was willing to give you a second thought while you were out there really solving the problems."
Phantom held up his hand, cutting off the officer. "Yes, yes, that's nice. But I'm here to state that I am not represented by the Justice League. I am NOT, pressing charges against Jack and Madeline Fenton and I am demanding their release at once." Phantom said authoritatively, shocking the crowd of cops.
"Uh, are you… sure, Phantom?" One of them asked looking nervously towards the holding cells.
"Yes, considering that I'm DATING their SON. I would very much like for them to be released Immediately all charges made in my name dropped." Was Phantom's reply, quickly followed by a shocked hush from the assembled officers.
The cover story of Phantom and Danny Fenton dating had the bonus effect of explaining away the bone crushing hug that Jack gave Phantom once he was released. Once out of the police precinct and inside the GAV which had been impounded, Phantom explained the cover story of him and Danny dating since they were sixteen. Jack was more than supportive, he thought it was hilarious and effective. Jack's one recommendation was to get a pair of wedding rings and 'Make an honest man out of yourself'.
Phantom didn't want to wait for traffic to get to his mother though, so he said goodbye to Jack and started flying towards the hospital that his mother was in. The thought still made Phantom clench his teeth in anger. The slash to his mother's arm wasn't very deep, but the blade had gotten turned in the strike and caused more damage than it should have.
Madeline had just gotten out of a second surgery yesterday night that had been needed to avoid permanent nerve damage to his mother's arm and hand.
~All because of that awful little Brat in pajam- He's in the room. He's IN HER ROOM?!~ Phantom's thoughts came to a screeching halt as he saw into the window of his mother's hospital room. Robin was there and his sword was out. ~no, no no noNONONONONONO-~
Phantom stopped thinking rationally at that moment. speeding up and going intangible while he phased through the hospital windows and then grabbing the little sword wielding nightmare. Phantom didn't think before he moved, the only thing he wanted, NEEDED, to do was get Robin AWAY, from his mother.
Phantom flew through the hospital room, grabbed robin by his cape, and turned the child soldier vigilante intangible before flying though the nearest wall and the floor.
Robin's reaction time was exceptional as soon as he realized that there was a threat. The first two swipes of Robin's katana simply went wide, unable to strike at Phantom while they were both intangible and he hauled Robin along by his cape. But as Phantom was dragging Robin through the Hospital cafeteria he made his move. Robin's free hand detached his cape from the collar of his vest and Robin dropped into a roll over top of a table.
Robin half skidded, half rolled off the table and landed on his feet, just in time for Phantom to reach for him once more. Phantom's eyes were glowing like spotlights as he growled. Phantom was torn between wanting to beat Robin senseless and simply wanting him GONE, the only thing holding him back was the knowledge that this was still a child, just a very dangerous one.
Phantom advanced on Robin. His hands swiping out like claws to try and snag Robin's uniform once more, but Robin was dipping, diving and dodging out of his grasp. Another two slashes of Robin's sword as he back pedaled simply passed through Phantom's grasping hands.
Upon realizing that his sword was useless, Robin stabbed his katana into the top of a table and readied himself. The next grab that Phantom attempted, Robin jumped back out of the way of using much more power than his previous evasions. Robin reached out his had to grab his sword once more in midair, instead of pulling it out of the table, Robin used his sword as a pivot. Tumbling over the table and around his impaled sword, Robin landed behind Phantom as the ghostly hero continued forward with the momentum of his failed grab.
Phantom turned just in time to see the Robin emblem coming at his face. Phasing back into intangibility, Phantom expected the blow to simply pass through him, instead the stylized 'R' cracked into his jaw, momentarily stunning Phantom from the unexpected blow.
Robin took the second of Phantom's stunned shock to hop back out of Phantom's melee range, the robin emblem that was normally over Robin's heart was detached and strapped to Robin's right fist like an improvised set of brass knuckles. The Nth metal emblem Robin's only anti ghost weaponry.
"Phantom! I know you must have quarrel with the Doctor Fenton! But I am honor bound to defend her while she cannot defend herself! Cease hostilities at once until she is capable of dueling you properly!" Came Robin's voice, confident and demanding, though his words dimmed Phantoms rage into confusion.
"What in the Infinite Jest did you just say?"
