wanda: if you could have any superpower, what would you choose and why?
Flying. That way I could travel anywhere I wanted to go to and I wouldn’t have to pay for it haha.

Eightball
Though silence may touch me
with forgetfulness
Time always reminds me
to unlock those doors
I would rather keep shut
against memory’s tide
Persistently knocking at
the engine of my distress
You haunt my hallways
like the smell of wax
And old books
especially the ones banned
By ignorance of your beauty
measured in lost kisses
Caught behind the eightball
the fallen hero gone to seed
In a bed of his own making
“Excuse me?!” The head cook marches up to me. The price of staying in a mansion is servants, one I hope I never get used to. “The boy that came in with you went into the back garden.”
“Oh,” I say. Because Jay and gardens go together about as well as fairy tales and dark woods.
“Every plant is now catnip! All the herbs, the flowers, everything!”
“No, they aren’t!” And Jay is simply beside me between moments. “There is dognip too, Charlie!”
“Ah. Dognip?”
“I invented it.” Jay beams proudly.
I take off at a sprint towards what used to be a garden. The tigers aren’t a surprise at all. Not even the wolves. But until now I’d never considered cross breeds of dragons and dogs. And I don’t want to think about what the dragogs - dogons - them, think about me. I back up, slam the door shut.
And then I text the wandering magician one word: JML. Because Jay My Life explains so very much right now.

Oblivious
We could spend hours calculating the time and distance between disappointments and faded stars in a now clouded sky. We’ve observed tragedy at close range with wide eyes and bodies readying to take action, hearing screams of the innocent and looking monsters in the eye. And I recollect it all, though the haziness of riddled thoughts and chemical reactions. I’ve lived with maddness floating in the smokey air and hung on the precipice of an obvious lie.
