“Will you bathe with me?” You asked softly, reaching one hand out to Maekar.
He had only entered the room moments before, walking in as your maids and attendants walked out. He shut and locked the door behind himself. He looked tired, worn out from a long day locked inside council meetings and governmental deliberation. His mouth was set in a hard line, the wrinkles on his brow deepened.
He looked at you, standing by the end of the bed in just a thin chemise, and walked over slowly, allowing you to wrap your arms over his shoulders and press yourself close to him. You kissed him softly, a gently press of your lips to his before pulling back with a serene smile.
“Hm,” he hummed, nodding as if that had been just the thing to convince him.
Maekar stepped back out of your reach, beginning to unbutton and unbuckle his doublet. He dropped it carelessly on the floor before working at the laces of his shirt, lifting it over his head in one swoop and adding it to the pile. You smiled at the sight, toying with the hem of your own chemise as you watched him.
The room was lovely, lit only in the dim orange and yellow light of a hearth and a few candles. It was warm, the heat from the bath and the fire gathering, and everything made you feel cozy and soft. Maekar’s hair and beard was coloured with the light, and the shadows flickered over his pale skin.
Maekar was finally at the laces of his trousers, and you gently lifted the chemise over your head and dropped it onto the floor with the rest of the garments. Those could be picked up later, you thought, shivering a little as the air hit every inch of your skin. You strolled over to stand beside the bath, warming your hands on the steam that billowed from it. Maekar was not far behind, having finally kicked off his boots and trousers, he stood naked for a moment, stretching his back a little before walking over and stepping carefully into the hot water.
He could instantly feel his muscles relax, even with just his calf wet. He slowly lowered himself into the water, groaning like a man far older than he actually was. You giggled softly to yourself, watching him close his eyes and settle back against the wall of the tub, legs stretching as far forward as they could before spreading to leave space for you.
He cracked one eye open as he held out his hand for you to hold. You gripped it, steadying yourself as you stepped into the bath. You too lowered yourself into the water with a little moan, the hot water instantly soothing every ache you were not even aware of. It caressed you in its heat, coccooned you in itself. You smiled, shivered in pleasure, and leaned back against Maekar’s chest.
If there was a place you could spend the rest of your life, it would be here. His chest, firm and strong at your back, his thighs firm beside yours, his entire body a cradle for your own. His arms came to wrap around your front, resting just under your breasts and over your stomach, holding you close to him as he sighed in contentment. Your feet rested between his, your toes just touching the arches. You could feel his lips press to the back of your head, his nose gently nudging the hair there.
“This is what the day called for,” he rumbled quietly, humming in pleasure as you rubbed at his arms on top of you. Your hands caressed the muscles of his forearms, your fingers gently running back and forth over them under the water.
“I agree,” you whispered, eyes closed and a dopey smile on your lips.
“What occupied you today?” He asked, his thumb moving back and forth over your throat, gently caressing you there. He simply wanted to hear your voice, whatever you wished to say he would accept. You hummed in thought, sighing a little.
“After breakfast I sat with the children and ensured their lessons were conducted. Rhae and Daella have been attempting to follow in Egg’s footsteps by running off from their Septa.” Maekar grunted at that, brows beginning to furrow again, but you continued before he could respond.
“I was not there long, they settled fairly well once they knew I wanted them to stay. I have been working on a project most of the day since, and it is nearing completion.” You smiled again at that, feeling a little giddy at the progress you had made.
“What project?” He asked, almost murmuring, lips moving against the back of your head.
“It is a blanket for a baby,” you whispered, hands pausing in their motion on his arms, holding him there just a little tightly. “I wished to embroider the three-headed dragon on it, and it has come out far better than I thought it would.”
Maekar too paused his motions, but he simply held you tighter. As you shifted to lean your head back against his shoulder, he bent his head to press a long kiss to your cheek, his eyes closed. He held there for a while, just breathing against your skin.
“Soon, my love,” he whispered, and you nodded, turning your head a little to nudge your nose against his. You kissed him, soft, slow, the movement of your lips like that of the water around you, fluid and gentle.
“I know,” you whispered in return, smiling and laying your head down again. He wrapped his arms a little tighter around you and settled further into the bath. It would happen soon. It would.
Both of you sighed in sync, closing your eyes and simply enjoying the bath around you, listening to the crackling of the flames, the flicker of the candles, the distant sound of a city winding down with you in the distance.
I was wondering how the dynamic would be of baelor & maekar with a younger bratty reader as in both at the same time !!!!
Maekar would definitely be rolling his eyes when baelor is being patient and indulging her 😭 (maekar grumpy cat agenda I love him sm)
Oh my goshhhh YES. I love this ask. And you are already 100% correct!!!
Baelor always takes the patience and kindness route. When younger bratty reader is being difficult, he doesn't indulge her, he just politely sits and waits, asks her kindly what is bothering her, why she is behaving like that, what he can do to help her, and just the gentle parenting route really.
Maekar is having NONE OF IT. His go to is just to tell her to shut up and listen to him, and if she keeps mouthing off or being bratty, then best believe she is being bent over...
I'm just imagining a scene where she's just been huffing and puffing, complaining about something and not listening to either of them. But Baelor with his endless patience just goes over to her, pulls her into his lap and talks to her sweetly. Maekar is just absolutely rolling his eyes and groaning about how Baelor "spoils" her and lets her attitude run free. Baelor just gives him a look to hush but that does not work. And reader, sitting there on Baelor's lap, feeling like an absolute princess, is smirking and sticking her tongue out at Maekar because haha he can't do anything when Baelor is being sweet to her.
I also see a scene where she's being particularly bratty, and Baelor knows it's not for a good reason, so he just steps back and lets Maekar handle it. She gives him puppy eyes, trying to convince him to come and be sweet to her, but he just shakes his head and shrugs and let's Maekar have at it.
And Maekar is soooo happy to have that opportunity. He's smirking to himself, telling her to be mouthy now, to see where that gets her, and she's like shiiiiit, I should not have done this (but also like yesss, exactly what I wanted ;)).
If we're going to get spicy with it, then I def see him spanking her, like he's going back to old school 1950s parenting type tactics where she is bent over his lap and counting. Or I see him just teasing her endlessly, and edging her until she is literally crying and begging and saying sorry.
But yeahhhhh it's getting hot in here and they are taking off all their clothes...
I have a Baelor x younger sister!reader x Maekar I'm writing where reader is a little spoilt/bratty so I am def including this type of dynamic in it!
Now I'm curious. How do you see younger Maekar and younger Baelor? What were they like? Did they got into any trouble visiting Dorne for the first time in their early 20s? I totally see Maekar being like "love is a lie,I'm gonna just whore down until I die" and then meeting Dyanna and getting completely in love and Baelor being like "what were you saying?" LOL. I'm asking because you said young Baelor is pretty different from DILF Baelor. I think that since he is THE heir, the oldest,he always got a lot of attention but were always very low key about whatever he was doing, which doesn't mean he wasn't doing anything,i think he did a lot 😅
Also, what do you think about Baelor and Maekar experimenting with men? I don't know about you but bissexual men are SO HOT in my opinion. And again,if they're traveling, being fostered somewhere else, like they had this practice to send noble boys to be fostered by other noble houses or serve knights as squires while young, that's the time to try things they probably wouldn't try at home. I don't know about Maekar but I def see Baelor being open to it because of his natural confidence. I don't think he would care much about what others would think about it too.
Ooooooohhhh imagine this with the marriage mart reader: she's younger then him so obviously she knows he had a life before her,and she's always curious about his youth. Baelor is very lowkey about his past but sometimes he indulges her,and one time he kinda like tells her he had some sort of a short affair with this boy while visiting Dorne. I think this is also a great step into their relationship, when Baelor, who keeps a lot to himself, trusts her enough to tell her this. And she's like FOR REAL?! And maybe Baelor is a little cautious like "do you think is disgusting?" and she's blushing because she's imagining it and to her it's not disgusting at all,she actually thinks is really hot...so she tries to,like, act normal, but Baelor of course figures out what's she's thinking 🤭
Aaaaaa ok. I'm done.
Hahaha thank you so much for this ask, I'm loving the detail!
I definitely think young!Baelor is different from DILF!Baelor in the sense that he's always growing and trying to better himself, and that means change. So I think young!Baelor's experiences definitely shaped DILF!Baelor.
I think both young!Maekar and young!Baelor got up to a lot of shenanigans in Dorne, especially because of how "free" Dorne seems to be. I completely agree with you in the sense that Maekar has always been a grump but then meeting Dyanna he just fell so hard.
I just want to preface all this with saying that I have not read the book/s for the hedge knight. Everything I know comes from either the show or what little bits I learn from tumblr and other social media so that might be wrong. I don't really write Maekar and Dyanna because I know nothing other than that they were married and she died. Same with Baelor and Jena, I literally know nothing other than Baelor was married to Jena. (Also all my writing is self-indulgent soooo reader is me lolll).
I think there's also a big culture of prostitution in Westeros so I have a feeling at some point Maekar and Baelor have been to a brothel and have had sex with a prostitute, just statistically speaking based on Westeros it's likely lmao.
I also think Maekar's grumpiness around love definitely stems from personal insecurity. He's the 4th son and he was probably a little insecure about the pox scars that he had, so he always felt like the guy that would never be chosen, or he just felt he would be married but he would not be loved. So I think that really affected how he felt about sex and all that stuff at first, but after falling in love and perhaps even after like visiting a brothel, he chills out about that. Like, after falling in love and seeing how much his partner is into him, I think that would soothe his insecurity about himself a lot.
With Baelor, I think he's always been really chill and naturally confident. He's the crown prince, he's tall, he's hot, he's never needed to worry about that. In King's Landing and just non-Dorne Westeros, the maidens were always after him, and in Dorne they are not only after him, but they're also really free about being with him, so if he thought a girl was pretty, he was def getting it on with her in Dorne (probably not with ladies in king's landing because I think he is someone who respects the whole concept of keeping virtue intact for marriage and all that).
I def don't think Maekar was getting it on with any guys, like that is one of the straightest people I have ever seen lmaooo. Personally I would say that I don't think Baelor is getting with any guys either. I see it as a situation where a boy/man/whoever tried to kiss him or kissed him at some point, and he just wasn't into it. Like he wasn't rude about it, didn't kick up a fuss or anything, but he just sort of shrugged and said he wasn't into it and that was that.
I'm sure there are very good Bi!Baelor characterisations out there but I just don't see him in that way and again, all my writing is self-indulgent so I am writing all this in comparison with my fem!readers and Idk I just don't see it lmao.
Overall, I think they were very different as young people as well. Maekar was still grumpy but probably a little less of an angry-all-the-time kind of guy before the Blackfyre Rebellion and Dyanna's death. Baelor I think has just always been growing into this confident and soft-spoken person, but I also think he has always been confident, he just learned to hone it and be humble about it as he grew up.
Have you seen Spy (2015)? I just realized that movie actually fits pretty well with the storyline I’ve been imagining lately, so I’m going to title this idea: what if Baelor and Maekar were in a spy-modern AU?
In my imagination, the Targaryens in this AU aren’t royalty or politicians but an old-money family with a long-standing legacy of serving as spies for the Westerosi government, under an agency known as FBW. Baelor and Maekar have been partners since day one, working side by side on every mission. As brothers, their coordination is flawless, there has never been a reason for FBW to separate them. Everything goes smoothly, every mission they take on is a success, until the fateful operation to take down a weapons smuggling ring in Ashford.
Baelor and Maekar are still partners on this mission, and somehow, Maekar ends up shooting Baelor, causing him to fall into the sea. The mission fails, forcing Maekar to retreat back to headquarters in a fit of rage. FIW sends search teams to the area but they are unable to find Baelor’s body, leading them to conclude that the heir to the Targaryen legacy is “dead without a trace”. This drives Maekar nearly insane and fuels his desire to take revenge on the terrorists in Ashford. He submits a report to FIW, requesting to continue the mission to dismantle the weapons smuggling ring but FIW refuses as the identities of all frontline agents, including Maekar, have been exposed. Unable to risk sending him again, FIW is forced to assign someone else, someone not on the list, and that person is M!reader.
So here’s the thing, there are two types of agents in FIW: field agents and support agents, and they always work together. Field agents handle missions on the ground, while support agents guide them remotely. This means that during missions, field agents wear communication earpieces connected to their support partners, whose job is to warn and guide them whenever there are suspicious individuals or when they need to escape. In addition, field agents are equipped with special contact lenses that act as surveillance cameras, allowing support agents to see everything from the field agent’s point of view. The difference between the two is that field agents have more real-world experience. However, that doesn’t mean support agents can’t shoot or fight hand-to-hand, they can, but they are often overlooked.
M!reader is actually Baelor’s support partner, on the day the Targaryen brothers carried out the mission to dismantle the weapons smuggling ring, she witnessed Maekar accidentally shooting Baelor through Baelor’s perspective. All the signals she had connected to him like his comms, the visual feed from his contact lenses, even his vital signs were suddenly cut off, this was one of the reasons FIW concluded that Baelor was dead. After what happened, M!reader doesn’t hate or blame Maekar because she knows it was an accident. However, his harsh attitude and rough behavior (driven by stress, helplessness and guilt) still irritate her deeply.
I think I’d like to build Maekar and M!reader’s relationship as one where they’ve had feelings for each other for a long time, perhaps since their days at the intelligence academy, when the three of them were still studying together, but in the end, she was assigned to Baelor instead. Basically, Maekar and M!reader like each other but they both have reasons for not getting together, something like Maekar assumes she has feelings for Baelor while she waits for him to confess, or is simply too shy to say anything herself, so they remain just friends. Everything changes after Baelor’s death, when all frontline agents’ identities are exposed, this leaves the head of FIW at a loss, unsure of who to assign to the mission, and that’s how M!reader is suddenly “promoted.”
“I’ll do it.” She raises her hand during the meeting. “I’ll take this mission.”
The first to speak is Maekar: “Have you lost your fucking mind? Those bastards got Baelor killed! You think you can get out of this alive? I’ll go!”
She replies calmly, because she’s the only one in this room who isn’t intimidated by his temper: “Last time I checked, all agent identities were compromised, including yours. Mine isn’t. They don’t know me, my voice or my face. It has to be me.”
Maekar’s face flushes red like a volcano on the verge of eruption: “This isn’t some fucking training class. The bullets in their guns are real, not blanks!”
Only then does the head of FIW speak: “She’s right. We need someone who won’t be recognized, and that won’t be anyone in this room. Well, except her.”
“I fucking object.” Maekar shoots the head a threatening look. “She has no experience, how the fuck do you expect her to succeed in this mission?”
The head of FIW asks: “Then what exactly are you suggesting?”
So Maekar goes: “Here’s what I’ll do, we’ll make a mask using a skin-generator, a completely new face, I’ll wear it and walk into this mission, no one will recognize me.”
The entire room falls silent. M!reader, for her part, nearly laughs but manages to hold it in given the situation. After a moment, the head finally replies: “You’ll have to pay half a golden dragon.”
Maekar is visibly taken aback, since all expenses for weapons and transportation are usually covered by the government, their only job is to carry out the mission: “I have to pay?”
The head looks at him like they can’t believe what they’re hearing: “No because that thing doesn’t exist.”
“WHAT!”
“We don’t have that.”
“Yes, we do! A few months ago, I heard Baelor talking to her about it.”
“… I’m pretty sure they were just messing with you. Again.”
The moment Maekar hears M!reader stifling a laugh, he shoots her a sharp glare, as if it weren’t for whatever feelings he has for her, he might’ve actually lunged at her.
“Okay, I have an idea.” She then lays out her plan. “I’ll only observe and report. I won’t engage, just gather information and send it back. How does that sound?”
Everyone in the meeting room agrees, except Maekar: “You’re seriously fucking considering it? She’s just Baelor’s support partner!”
She shoots back. “I’m technically an agent.” She points at Maekar, then at the others in the room. “So, agent, agent, agent.” Then at herself. “Agent. And please stop swearing, Maekar.”
Despite his reputation in the intelligence world, Maekar isn’t the head of FIW, he just works for the government so the decision isn’t his to make. In the end, the head approves her plan to observe and report, assigning her to the mission as an intelligence agent. The decision drives Maekar to the point of insanity, he submits his resignation, something that has never happened before in FIW. As soon as she hears the news, she rushes to Maekar’s apartment to confront him and they end up in a heated argument, their first truly serious and intense fight.
“You didn’t have to do this. We’re going to catch them, we just need time to gather information.”
“You think it’s simple? That you can just go there, sit down, pretend to be normal and get the fucking information?”
“I know it’s not. And I know it’s dangerous. But I’m not doing this just for FIW or for you, I’m doing it for Baelor too. I won’t let his death mean nothing. I’ll avenge him!”
“You’ve never been in the field, all you’ve ever had to do is sit behind a screen and give instructions. You weren’t there, the day they tricked me into pulling the trigger on him. How could you possibly understand how I felt!?”
“How do you know I don’t understand? Baelor, and you, were my friends. We were like family. I’ve already lost him. I don’t want to lose anyone important to me ever again.”
“This plan won’t work.” Despite his anger, Maekar forces himself to hold back. “You want to die that badly? You think I’ll just sit here and wait for news of your death? They’re terrorists, many agents have died at their hands, Baelor included. I’ve already lost him, I can’t lose you too!”
“And I can’t lose you!” She shouts, making Maekar freeze. After a long moment, she speaks again, her eyes blurred with tears. “I won’t let the person I love die at the hands of those who killed my friend. I’d rather die than stand there and watch someone important to me fall again.”
Maekar never expected to confess his feelings in a moment like this, let alone hear her say the same. Truthfully, he had long intended to bury what he thought was a one-sided love until the day he died. He had spent so much time imagining that one day, she and Baelor would end up together. Never, not once, had he imagined she would say this to him, someone like him, temperamental, reckless, prone to anger could really make her fall for him?
Before Maekar can say or do anything, she steps forward and pulls him into a tight embrace. Her ear presses against his chest, listening to his heartbeat racing with a storm of emotions. She doesn’t want to do this, but she has to, because she loves him unconditionally.
“I love you.” She whispers. “And I’m sorry.”
She raises her gun and fires into his abdomen, the round is a blank so it won’t kill him, he only loses consciousness from the impact at such close range. It’s a plan she had already worked out before coming to his apartment. She knows he would never let her go, at the very least, with his personality, he would do everything in his power to take her place in the field. She also understands why he submitted his resignation: to free himself from FIW’s control. As long as he remains an agent under their command, if the head refuses to authorize the mission, he has no choice but to obey, resigning is the only way for him to investigate on his own and avenge Baelor, but because she knows him too well, she won’t let that happen. She can’t lose him!
She makes arrangements to keep him in the hospital for a few days while she moves forward with her surveillance and intelligence plan, in the end, the plan succeeds flawlessly, she dismantles the weapons smuggling and trading ring between two crime bosses in Westeros and becomes FIW’s “hero”. By the time Maekar wakes up, everything is already over. Although she returns safely, he is furious that she dared to cut him out of a mission that put her life at risk. Still, beneath the anger, he feels more relieved than anything else, so in the end, things settle more smoothly than expected.
She visits him at the hospital on a clear afternoon, right after completing the mission and just as he hears the news of her success. Maekar’s first reaction, of course, is to scold her, his voice is loud enough that even in a VIP room, the nurses have to step in and remind him not to disturb the other patients.
“What the fuck were you thinking? What made you think you could shoot me and leave me here while you go face those filthy rats on your own? Don’t rely on the fact that they don’t know your face. What if someone does? What then? What were you going to do? Just stand there and let them shoot you? Or kill yourself to protect the information?”
“But I came back, didn’t I? And I’m fine, not hurt at all.”
“Right. Did you get a full check-up? Any toxin screening? What if you were exposed to something slow-acting?”
She walks over and sits on the edge of his bed: “Maekar, you need to stop overthinking it. It’s all over now. I’m fine, you’re fine. We’re all fine. And I have a surprise for you.”
“Fuck that surprise. I nearly knocked out the nurse who came in to put me on an IV just so I could get out there and find you. You’re lucky I love you. Otherwise, I’d have killed you for this.”
“I love you too.” She beams and throws her arms around him. “I thought I’d have to wait forever to hear you say that. Can you say it again?”
Maekar pouts, though there’s no real annoyance in it: “Shut up, woman.”
She suddenly sits up: “Oh, right. I…”
Before she can finish, the room door opens. A man steps in, dressed in a black suit with the FIW insignia pinned to his left chest. But what makes Maekar, who was about to keep complaining, fall completely silent is the man’s calm expression and faint, relieved smile.
“That’s not a very polite way to greet your brother.” The man is none other than Baelor. And yes! Baelor is alive.
Maekar freezes completely. He can’t believe he’s seeing Baelor again when he saw with his own eyes his brother fall into the sea and disappear. He looks at Baelor, then turns to M!reader, who is quietly giggling at his stunned expression.
As if suddenly remembering something, Maekar leans closer to her and whispers like:
“What did I just say?”
“Told you to stop swearing.”
“How are you alive?” Maekar asks after they’ve reunited for a while, then he quickly corrects himself. “No. How did you escape?”
Baelor replies with a straight face: “I used a skin-generator to create a new face and managed to slip away.”
Maekar immediately slams his hand down on the mattress: “I knew that thing really existed!”
Meanwhile, M!reader can only shake her head helplessly.
As for Baelor, his story isn’t nearly as emotionally intense. He was swept away from Ashford by the sea, carried farther and farther by the current, and by some miracle, he survived. After regaining consciousness and examining his injury more carefully, he realizes that Maekar’s bullet didn’t hit a fatal point. Though it struck his left chest, it missed his heart by the slightest margin, just enough to spare his life. And by another stroke of luck, when he was barely clinging to life on some distant shore, he was found and rescued.
Now, B!reader is a girl who lives in the city where the sea carried him ashore. She owns a small coffee shop right across from the beach and she’s incredibly gentle, sweet, soft and kind, so much so that, in Baelor’s opinion, she “can’t tell what’s real and what’s not” because even when he tells the most obvious lies, she still believes him.
After taking him to the hospital to covering his medical expenses, she sits down and talk with him: “I heard there was a bullet in your body, how did that happen?”
Fortunately for her, Baelor is a good man. If it had been some ruthless criminal instead, they might have taken advantage of her kindness, drained her of everything and silenced her to cover their tracks.
Baelor lies as if it were the truth: “I was learning how to handle a gun, it belongs to my brother, then I accidentally pulled the trigger and… well, you know, you saved me.”
“Oh, I see.” She nods as if everything makes perfect sense. “So you were trying to figure out how to use and shoot a gun so you could teach your brother, and you accidentally shot yourself in the chest. Well, it’s okay, the bullet’s been removed, you don’t have to worry.”
Baelor can only smile and nod at her reasoning. Who would’ve thought a girl this strange would be the one to “fish him out” of the sea? What he didn’t expect, though, was that she wouldn’t just pull him out, she would take his heart with her too.
While recovering at her place, he watches the way she works and interacts with people. It’s safe to say he’s completely drawn to her: her warmth, her carefree spirit, the way she seems to embrace life so effortlessly. Gradually, he grows used to the quiet life by the sea, his days pass peacefully like this, spent alongside her, he no longer has to stay up through the night on missions or remain on constant high alert. And that makes him start to wonder whether the life of a spy, as the heir to the prestigious Targaryen in the intelligence world is truly what he wants, especially when even his mother once urged his father to walk away from this dangerous path.
“What are you doing?” She suddenly asks one evening when she finds him sitting out on the balcony, staring up at the night sky. She tilts her to follow his gaze and frowns. “Are you looking at the stars? But there aren’t any tonight.”
Baelor lets out a soft laugh: “I’m thinking.”
“About what?”
“About whether the decision I’m about to make is the right one.”
“You mean returning the gun to your brother?”
“No.” Baelor chuckles. “I mean… I don’t know if the next choice I make is one I can live with.”
After a moment of silence, she finally replies: “That depends on the level of satisfaction you set for yourself.”
“What do you mean?”
“I think you should put your own sense of satisfaction above those choices. If you choose a path you like and follow it, that’s a kind of satisfaction. And if you choose a path you don’t like but feel you can endure and keep going, that’s also a kind of satisfaction. So it really depends on you, just choose whichever option brings you more satisfaction. As for me, I tend to choose the kind of satisfaction that makes me happy rather than the kind I have to endure.”
And just like that, Baelor knows what he has to do next.
The time between his last mission with Maekar and M!reader’s surveillance operation spans about one to two months. Truthfully, he wants to return and let everyone know he’s alive but this time, he chooses to help FIW quietly. Baelor knows FIW will assume he’s dead, and so will the terrorists. After all, who could possibly survive a gunshot to the chest and a fall into the sea? Taking advantage of that, Baelor begins to move in the shadows. By chance, he crosses paths with M!reader just as she’s about to get caught in a violent clash between two terrorist groups, who are trying to seize the weapons instead of completing the exchange. With Baelor’s timely intervention and support, M!reader successfully obtains the information FIW needs and immediately reports back to headquarters. Due to the urgency of the situation, she doesn’t mention that Baelor is still alive and instead follows him to the next exchange location.
In the end, everything falls into place. Maekar finally confesses his feelings to M!reader after keeping them hidden for so long, and Baelor couldn’t be happier for his stubborn, unyielding and grumpy little brother.
Now that his brother has finally found the happiness he’s always been searching for, isn’t it time for Baelor to make his own choice? And so, as soon as the scene is cleared, Baelor suddenly submits his resignation and drives to another city, the place where the person who saved him and changed his life lives.
“Baelor?” Her face lights up when she sees him after a month apart. “Weren’t you supposed to go back to King’s Landing for work?”
Baelor softens his voice: “I was. But it’s all done now.”
“Are you here to rest? For a few days?”
“No.” He shakes his head lightly. “I just… want a change of pace. I thought while I’m taking a break, I could work part-time at your coffee shop.”
B!reader is completely taken by surprise. Her first impression of Baelor was that he was someone deeply devoted to his work, and to his younger brother as well. Truthfully, she’s a simple person, perhaps a little too naïve even. She doesn’t think too much about how a man could end up here with a gunshot wound, carried ashore by the sea. To her, Baelor is simply a kind man, someone who loves his family and has an important job he needed to return to as soon as he recovered. She remembers the promise he made, the day he left, he said he would come back when he could. She had thought the man who seemed like her ideal would disappear from her life for good, but to her surprise, Baelor really did come back. Not only that, he even seems to be planning to stay.
As for Baelor, the time he spent with her while recovering slowly softens him, drawing him in with her innocence and kindness. He comes to think that someone as pure, gentle and sweet as her shouldn’t have to live alone in this city, and he finds himself willing to become the one who protects her. Besides, she is, after all, the one who saved him.
“What about your job?” She’s surprised by his answer. “And your brother?”
Baelor simply shrugs: “I quit. My brother will be fine, he finally has someone to take care of him.”
Her heart stirs with an emotion she can’t quite put into words. All she knows is that during the time he was gone, she kept thinking about him, hoping that one day she would see him again. She suddenly asks: “Why here?”
He answers as if he has long since decided on it: “I just want to spend the rest of my life with the girl who changed me.”
As for what comes next, it’s unlikely that Maekar will ever return to FIW and it’s certain that Baelor has already left it behind. After all, the vast fortune and legacy the Targaryen family has built over nearly a century is more than enough to sustain them for generations. Besides, the two of them would never truly fall into poverty, they’re exceptional at whatever they choose to pursue.
So now we have two retired agents, and if we count M!reader, that makes three. Just imagine this: on some random perfectly ordinary day, a brainless criminal breaks into B!reader’s coffee shop and threatens to kill her if she doesn’t hand over all the money. And if Maekar and M!reader just so happen to be there too? Well… that poor guy must’ve burned through all his luck across multiple lifetimes to hit a jackpot like this.
oh my goshhhh, back at it again anon, you never fail!!!
I absolutely love that film omg!!! It's so funny and I crack up every single time. I think I've watched it ten million times, no joke. Absolutely amazing work by everyone involved (not to mention sexy jude law moment 😉)
I didn't think about it before, but a Spy AU is such a good idea. Like Baelor and Maekar as an unstoppable MI6 team, code names: 'The Hammer and The Anvil'. There are so many possible opportunities and storylines with this!
I'm not gonna touch on the story you wrote here because I think it's amazing, I have no notes. Like, it just needs to be read as is because you've fleshed out the idea so wonderfully. I def think you should start posting these/writing these out fully because they are amazing and I KNOW people would love to read your work!
I would def write one Spy AU similar to the Baelor storyline. He gets shot in the action, falls into the sea, and ends up being saved by a girl in a small coastal town. It would have lots of healing vibes, Baelor having to keep his identity a secret, the reader just being this kind-hearted person who has no expectations of him, just wants to help him, and he slowly falls in love with her. He would lie about his identity, pretend he has amnesia or just create some other story for him.
But then the baddies realise he is still alive and come to find him and they hurt/kidnap the reader, so he has to go save her and this reveals that he is alive to Maekar as well. Eventually they save Reader and Baelor tells her the truth but also retires from field work and does an office job and lives with her happily ever after.
Orrr I see it as there being a sort of rivalry between Baelor and Maekar. They have always been an amazing team, they do absolutely critical fieldwork together, and just work as a well-oiled machine. But then they both fall in love with the new support agent they share or they meet some girl during the mission (maybe a barista at the cafe they sit at for stakeouts or the neighbour of their safehouse apartment) and this causes conflict between them and slowly deteriorates their partnership.
I am def adding a spy AU to my tbw!!! Thank you so much again anon, you are absolutely amazing and I love reading your messages 💕
I'm laughing so hard because with all the adrenaline from the tournament, Maekar seems a little crazy, and acting like he's the big boss because of it, but in my head he's created a problem for the rest of his life now, simply because now she's going to use this against him whenever she wants something! "But I'm your queen of love and beauty! I deserve these new earrings!" she pouts and throws herself into Maekar's lap. In my mind, she's going to use this forever to try and get things out of Maekar or soften him up.
HAHAHA this is soooo true!!! I didn't even think about this but you are soooo right!!!
Maekar was feeling soooo cocky after winning the tournament. He was on cloud 9! Got the respect of the people, got to be a champion in front of his entire family, and got a handle on his daughter in law for a little while, everything was going perfect.
But like two days later, when you want to have a new dress made, he is literally in hell.
"I said no, listen to my fucking words," he ground out, glaring at you from behind his desk. But you just crossed your arms and did not budge.
"You are the one who crowned me your queen of love and beauty! I should have a lovely new dress to celebrate the honour!"
He literally just stares at you, eyes wide, because what the fuck was he listening to. Were you seriously being this crazy and delusional? But you are just smirking at him because he did do that, and he can't get away from that action now...
"I am your queen of love and beauty, so we must have the cook make my favourite meal this evening, even if you do not like it!"
"You crowned me your queen of love and beauty, which means you must join me for tea or face my wrath!"
"As queen of love and beauty, I believe I deserve a shiny new pair of earrings. It simply would not do to go without them!"
"Oh come now, do not be so angry! I am your queen of love and beauty after all, you cannot be angry with me!"
"Could I have a new pair of slippers? And before you answer, remember that I am your queen of love and beauty and so you should say yes."
He is literally never finding a moment's peace again. He handed you your biggest weapon against him on a silver platter!!!
Regarding the question involving the children, I can see a general mess and chaos erupting in Summerhall when Aerion opens his mouth to mention Maegor's name when the baby is born. And furthermore, some time after the birth of this first child, Maekar fucking her and after ejaculating inside her again, murmuring against her hair for her to please give him a girl this time. 🤗
Omg I just went through my asks again and realised I never read this one!!! Your brain is liquid gold and amazing because another anon had an ask similar to this and I only just answered it HAHAHA
Here is the link if you want to read that!
The second part of this though??? Hilarious and so true. I can just see Maekar laying on top of her, mouth to her ear and saying in a huffy out of breath voice "please give me a daughter. I cannot take another son, I beg you."
And you're just giggling and are like "ok I'll try my hardest 🤣"
I think Aerion shouldn't mind too much that Maekar is fucking her until she's overflowing, as long as she's disturbing his father's peace and not his.
Valarr... I think he's just too busy with his own business to care about his wife enough to realize that Baelor is enjoying the best part of the marriage instead of him 🤭
HAHAHA this is so true!!!
I think Aerion is happy not to have the responsibility over her now, especially because she annoys the fuck out of him. If his father has to deal with all the annoying shit, then he is all too happy to let him take over that responsibility!
And Valarr has other shit going on, he can't be assed to care. He's learning to be the next prince of the real, the future king as well, and he's still a young man. He has friends and he likes to go on hunts or travel and a wife just does not fit into all those plans. So I think he just does not realise that Baelor is taking care of his wife, in many MANY ways...
OK SO HEAR me out...maekar with mommy issues...maybe he's addicted to readers boobs/lactation kink and being treated with kindness and care idc im leaving BYE
OOOO ok, I do love subtle mommy issues!!! Like when it's not obvious that they have mommy issues but then they do little things that show they had some sort of contentious relationship with their parent.
So I can def see Maekar being obsessed with reader's boobs, and I can deffff see him being absolutely in love with a reader who pushes through his grumpy shell to just be kind and take care of him. Like I can see him just being like "no, I don't care" but then she just snuggles into him, or she just starts playing with his hair as they lay in bed, or she makes sure he drinks and eats and is healthy because she loves him, and he just instantlyyyy falls in love with that!
