Oh god.
What the fuck.
That’s all she can think, the moment the news comes in, the day that she hears of what Veronica’s been made to do on Halloween night. And here she’d thought that she’d been left with the real horror story on her hands, but Veronica had been the one placed in REAL DANGER on a night all on her own. There’s guilt, too -- part of her wondering if she should have been there, manning the doors as she usually did, which she would have been doing, if it hadn’t been her girlfriend presenting more insanity at her door.
But right now, she doesn’t want to think of that. It’s not about what’s going on within haunted halls, right now she needs to be a friend to a girl who clearly needs one. They’ve settled into booths sidelined between a shift, because, they both know, WHO HAS THE TIME for processing trauma, when you’ve business to take care of? Doesn’t mean that they can force break regardless, but it’s one taken with caution, Toni pushing a milkshake across the space between them that she’s made under Pop’s watchful eye.
“Drink up. And tell me, what the hell happened all those days ago... that sounds actually crazy. And I can’t... like Veronica. I’m so sorry that I wasn’t here...”
