so for the AU headcanon thing --- Galidraan goes a little bit differently, and Jango becomes the Mand'alor and House Kryze loses some prestige[exact timeline up to you]. Somehow, Obi Wan Kenobi becomes the diplomatic attache/hostage to keep the Mandalorians from retaliating against the Jedi. Jango doesnt expect to fall in love.
Give me an AU, get headcanons.
Let’s say Qui-Gon gets injured and foists Obi-Wan off on his own Master, Dooku, just in time to get sent to Mandalore. Obi-Wan is looking forward to seeing Satine again, but everything feels... off. It keeps him vigilant, which is how he manages to keep the Jedi from killing Myles and sparking off a slaughter.
Dooku investigates the incident and discovers they were set up... by House Kryze. Satine claims not to have known anything about it, but Obi-Wan is still disillusioned, especially since she implies that while she condones the attempted violence she still believes the True Mandalorians are a threat. He isn’t the only one disillusioned, either, and House Kryze loses its prestige as people begin questioning the whole pacifism angle and decide that maybe the True Mandalorians are onto something after all.
Obi-Wan offers himself up as a political hostage in order to assure the goodwill of the Jedi, who have a lot of egg on their face right now. He does this without consulting Dooku, of course, and while Jango is inclined to refuse at first, Obi-Wan really does have a way with words and manages to convince him to accept the deal. Qui-Gon is going to murder Dooku when he gets home. lol
Not only is Obi-Wan a go-between for the Jedi and the True Mandalorians, but he also offers up his services to help Jango deal with the New Mandos and various other factions, which comes in handy as Jango is chosen as Mand’alor.
Jango has a competence kink and Obi-Wan is hitting every mark. They work very well together. ;)
For Obi-Wan’s part, he’s got a bit of a competence kink, too, and finds life on Mandalore kind of freeing.
Qui-Gon shows up on Mandalore and offers up all kinds of incentives in order to “free” his Padawan, but Jango says that’s entirely Obi-Wan’s call... and Obi-Wan has learned a bit TOO much about negotiations from his Master. He won’t be leaving Mandalore- or Jango- any time soon.
