The War Outside Our Door Keeps Raging On||Maggie and Lucifer
The novelty of playing human was really, really starting to wear on Lucifer by now. Humanity, while admittedly more interesting than he'd been expecting, was still pretty damn boring in comparison to his own kind and, thanks to Mikey's 'cease fire' he'd had to pretend to be like them for far too long now. It wasn't that playing human didn't also have its perks (like the amusement he got from being told he was a 'nice guy' or from making allusions to his true identity and watching it fly right over the little human's heads) but the pent up frustrations from having to play the role for so long without being able to, in effect, stretch his wings was beginning to get to him.
He needed a break and he really, really needed to smite something if he was going to keep this act up...
So he waited until most of the town were asleep before reaching inside his essence and giving his grace the slightest of tugs, just to conceal him enough to allow him to slip out of the town gates unnoticed. He walked for a few minutes, putting the camp in the distance before unfurling his wings to their full length, stretching them out in a way he'd been just dying to do for weeks now, allowing the slight wind to ruffle through them as his grace began to probe the area, searching for walkers (since he doubted Michael wouldn't eventually hear about this incident and he'd really rather not get into his bad books yet for smiting the humans).
His senses eventually picked up on a small group clustered around the drug store surrounding what appeared to be a human... and, from what he could tell, one of the humans from his own camp. Lucifer's eyebrows rose a little at the revelation, a mixture of respect and disbelief creeping in as he considered the guts it must have taken to head out here alone as a human... because for an archangel like him, facing walkers was child's play, fun even but... for a human, it was life or death... and most of the time the later option if they ended up alone.
Well, he supposed, he should probably help the human out, after all that was bound to earn him a few brownie points around camp, plus he could admit to finding most of the humans he'd met at least vaguely entertaining to him. It would almost be a shame to lose one to a group of walkers like this... though he'd probably have to do this the human way given that he didn't exactly intend to reveal his true identity this soon (or this anticlimactically for that matter).
He reigned in his grace, instead pulling out the knives he'd come to favour in battle while playing human as he moved to face the throng of walkers crowded around the building, driving the blades home into the two nearest figure's heads as he geared up for what he hoped would be a fairly brutal battle because... it really had been too long.
