maybe im too optimistic because its my otp but this chapter is very important to alimor.
it hit me since the last page of ch199 where a surprised mor panel was important enough to get almost half a page. at that time i was like how could mor be more obvious than this (thank you ohtaka-sensei) because it showed that even if alitoto was true or not, either way, i was sure there would be some alimor development soon.
and then ch200 revealed that we got trolled. i wasnt that surprised and i thought so that was all. at least it was clear how mor feel and that counted.
BUT turned out that was NOT all. toto and olba got together. ali didnt stop whining about his tragic love life. why is it that important anyways? and then ch203 happened and made me think so this is what you were aiming for since ch199 right ohtaka-sensei? but still i never believe alimor was canon. it was more like wtf was happening? really? srs? that easy? NO WAY. (development anyways, though)
then in ch204 according to an unofficial magi rule: alibaba cannot win (in love and women), we got trolled again along with him and this time i totally expected it. BUT what was real, despite how comical ali’s face looked, was what ali said in 203 (you know that best alimor panel i want you to be with me and i will be with you forever and ever ever) and what mor said in 204. (about slavery/relationship and ali said he will wait)
and tbh, even though i expected both, i thought alimorhaku tri-angle was most likely to happen soon after that, way more than a political marriage of alikou but here we are with ch210. i wont deny that it has lots of alikou because it does and its perfectly reasonable for alikou shippers to rejoice but i think that that only one panel in 210 where ali thought about mor when the concept of marriage was brought up is very important.
lets say, nothing about ali’s love life ever happens since ch199. the story goes on fully shonen-like. no alitoto. no olbatoto. no misunderstandings. no troll. no pathetic alibaba at his best. ali just goes to balbaad, meets kouen and talks about the 3 conditions.
is the decision about balbaad regarding said conditions (where mor is completely out of the picture) hard and dramatic enough for alibaba?
i dont know about you guys but for me, my answer is yes. HELL YES. true, what ali said to mor made it harder if you look at things through the characters’ eyes but lets think as if we were the author.
is it necessary enough to use 4 chapters (199, 200, 203, 204) to establish alimor development just for the sake of ali wanting a girlfriend or to make it a bit harder for ali to decide the fate of balbaad?
again, i don’t know about you but my answer is no. alimor development happened right before this second balbaad arc, in other words, right before officially mentioning a political marriage (there was already a possibility of alikou political marriage since the first balbaad arc but its not official) because IT IS NEEDED.
why now? because political marriage which is plot-driven (and kinda a must here) is a good opportunity to make ali stop being an idiot and wake up and learn about the concept of love for real, for him to be able to love or understand that hey i do love mor and not because i never ever have a girlfriend before. i thought the first key for this kind of situation would be hakuryuu but i was wrong.
if i were the author and i wanted alikou as the endgame, i would simply cut 199, 200, 203, 204 out and just focus on alikou solving this situation and developing their relationship. i think mor loving ali and alimor bond/platonic relationship since the start are enough to complicate things for alikou, no need for ali-might-love-mor or ali-wanting-a-gf.
why, at all? because, dare i say, alimor is the endgame and this is a very important step in their relationship. and i think whatever mu tell mor is gonna be important too. yes, right now im worried as hell. still, no matter what happens, i have tons of scenarios in my head about how alimor will happen because i still believe it will happen.
in short, 199-200 is an intro. 203-204 is a start. and now is where things actually get serious.
dont forget to cry oceans with me if alimor isnt canon at the end of magi.
im not hating on koumei and kouen or anything but even though alibaba doesnt have any experience on women like they do, i admire how pure and kind-hearted he is even though he's perverted and naive sometimes i mean he cares for kougyoku and morgiana's feelings and he has self-control like wow i love him how can you not love him he's too precious for this horrible world
holy guacomole the new magi chapter like ohtaka pls stop playing with the ships like alikou is cute and so is alimor and hakumor i like all of them stop stomping on my feelings god
hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng

Discussion Question Magi 210 - Spoilers
Will Alibaba take Kouen and Koumei's offer? Complying with all three conditions
Will Alibaba marry Kougyoku?
Will Alibaba's 'popularity' with women plague him long into adulthood? (And on the same note, has the gag run its course?)
If Alibaba does agree to Kou's demands, how will Sinbad react? (Also remembering that Aladdin is still in Sindria.)
Is Alibaba ready to become a king? (Remembering his reluctance to rule during the first Balbadd arc)
How aware is Kougyoku of the situation? Is she aware she's being used? Is Zepar still controlling her somehow?
Does Kou (primarily En and Mei) truly stand a chance of defeating Sinbad and Seven Seas Alliance?
Does Mu's appearance suggest Reim wishes to cast aside its alliance with Sinbad?
Is Mu's presences more to do with Morgiana then the summit?
What will happen in the next chapter 211?
Inbox me your ideas and theories because I would love to hear them and discuss/post them! Cheers 。◕ ‿ ◕。
If anyone's interested. The reason Kouen and Koumei are so experienced with women is due to Kou culture, especially as Princes.
Otaka outlines this in one of her omakes (Vol. 13 - Chapter 122.5)
"He [Hakuryuu] explains it's man's duty to leave descendants in the near future so they are brought unasked women every night... Hakuryuu says that he's the lowest in succession, so he didn't need to go through it."
My deduction is: as First and Second Princes En and Mei got a lot of pussy and probably have an army of kids by now...
That's why I'll do anything for you!!
