Hitomi as a puella magi!

I put a lot of thought into this fan design, my concepts and headcanons below the cut.

Hitomi is stated to have little magical potential. Her family is also pushing her to be a traditional girl.

Taking these into account, I started with a long flowing kimono. It’s elegant, but hard to fight in. I liked this, but didn’t quite feel right. I toyed with a priest design before the hakama. Even though it looks like a pleated skirt, it’s actually more like pants. Maybe Hitomis is like tennis skorts? I chose red purple both for complimentary colors, and for a sense of royalty. I like the outcome, but I still feel like it’s bland. I also may have over used the flower designs.

In line with her wish, she can use her weapon, paper doll charms, to turn someone or something into a paper doll. She can release them, but they will be destroyed if they catch fire. The entity inside can also break free if they’re strong enough.

As you can see, hitomi can also turn the main girls into dolls. I feel like she would do this to stop them witching out. But I think having them all dolls would drive her to despair. I think her witch would be an origami doll, similar to a girls day doll. Cranes representing the main girls would come and peck at her.

Didn’t have the time to draw that though.

Farewell to Magia Record...

Woah... I've been super out of the loop, so only just found out today that Magia Record is ending service and there's a new PMMM game on the horizon!

Of course, I haven't played MagiReco in... honestly years, at this point. My interest waned, other fandoms beckoned, and the size of the game was eating up a huge amount of memory on my phone. So I uninstalled it.

But way back when it first began, I was following all the pre-release info and I'm pretty sure I started within the first week of the JP version going live. It's strange to think back to those early days, when no one knew what to expect! I still remember plugging away at translating Madoka's character story out of sheer curiosity and eagerness for what new lore the game had to offer.

That time when I started playing was coincidentally right when I started a new job, and because of those early translations I posted, Magia Record became the first fandom where I started seriously posting my own content to tumblr too. It was first fandom where I actually talked to people and made friends here!

So to hear that it's finally shutting down... it's an oddly nostalgic and bittersweet feeling. The Magia Record chapter of my life ended a while ago, and I made peace with that. With the game fully gone, though, it will be like wandering past an old address I used to live at and seeing the new owners tore down the previous building and put up something unrecognizable.

Time moves inexorably onward, and the ephemeral nature of mobile games makes them all the more susceptible to it.

I might try re-downloading the MagiReco app, just so I can see it one last time to say goodbye. Depending on how my creaky ancient phone holds up, maybe I can get that transfer code and archive app working.

But even if I do get that transfer code, I don't know if I'll play Magia Exedra. As much as I feel nostalgic for the good times, I also remember my disappointments with MagiReco. I'm a lot more cynical now about the potential for ongoing service games to tell satisfying stories - heck, one major reason I got into FFXIV was because I heard it had a good conclusion where you could stop playing if you so chose.

So no, I'm not really interested in getting in on the ground floor of a brand new game these days. I'll wait and see how it turns out first.

i wanted to try to raise most of them but then i lost internet so i couldnt play for a month

i love these girls so hopefully i have motivation to draw some of them soon as a final goodbye!!

Surprised nobody pointed out how terrifying and somewhat cute the implications of a girl asking Kyuebey for a sibling would be.

Like their wish is to not be an only child anymore and they want a little sister or brother.

Wonder how twisted the child will be? Would they be part witch? The weapon for the girl?

Green Jasper Diviners Ending: now that we’ve saved the village and solved the mystery, we’re going to gather magical girls from across the country so we can figure out how to prevent us from becoming witches! oh, but first we need to make sure we have all the terms right, tehe!
