Doodles based on some cards I pulled from a pack my friend got me (dark magician and magic cylinder not included)
Our favorite magicians have another trick to show you! Marvel at the space-warping, mind-bending powers of the wondrous "Magic Cylinder"!
This is another iconic card associated with both of Yugi's magicians. It's a little hard to tell what classic magic trick this card is based on, but I suspect it's a kind of combination of the old cup-and-ball trick with the general concept of magicians making objects disappear and reappear.
My original text on this card was a little too faithful to the implications of the wording on the manga version of the card. Because of that, I ended up taking a big cue from how Konami handled their version for my first version of this card.
However, I went back over its uses in the manga (somehow, it had only two appearances!), and revised the card in a later print run. As far as I can tell, the intent for this card seems to be that it can redirect an attack at any valid target- which would be both the opponent and any monsters that might be on-field. An extremely strong effect, balanced by the fact that you can only use if you're using one of the few monsters that have the word "Magician" in their name.
Some of you may be confused by the last line on my card: "The cylinders can also transport objects". This is based on a line actually present in the original Japanese text. Moreover, we actually see this functionality used in this card's first appearance in chapter 174; it's shown that this specific part of the effect is the reason that Dark Yugi is able to affect Malik's god card "Saint Dragon- The God of Osiris" with Dark Yugi's Trap Card "Binding Hexagram Curse", albeit briefly.
Of course, this concept is something that can't fully translate to card mechanics (believe me, I tried), so I ended up leaving the line as-is. Unfortunately, some of the more fantastical aspects of this card will have to stay in the realm of imagination.
On a more self-critical note, I was never satisfied with how the illustration on this card turned out. Some of the finer details are pretty smeared. I tried to touch them up a little, but I resisted doing too much to preserve Takahashi's original art (shown below).
I hate to say this, but the problem lies primarily in the size of my source image. This is the biggest uncovered version of the art there is between this card's two appearances, and of the two it's the version with a color job that's not so great. Such is the nature of the beast that is my project, I suppose.
Voilà! Now you know the secrets of the cylinders. Thanks for reading! We have an extremely significant monster coming up tomorrow...no, I take that back: it's really not a monster at all...
Prepare for the advent of an unfathomable might far beyond the imaginations of us mere mortals...
Saw funny, interesting stories of duel losses thanks to good ol' Magic Cylinder XD

“When an opponent’s monster declares an attack: Target the attacking monster; negate the attack, and if you do, inflict damage to your opponent equal to its ATK.”
Been looking at my old custom made yugioh cards and first off, oh my god I had way too much spare time on my hands there's a ridiculous amount of cards here. And for another, I forgot I made alternate images of already existing cards and- oh my god I can't even you know what high school EmeraldFishy? that's pretty good. that's pre-tty good.
