So I’ve started a series that deals with magic in RWBY and it doing so I ended up looking at different kinds of magic and what the different color do and I thought I’d share cause why not.
All the magic can be used in more basic defense and attack moves, such as shields and bolts of magic. It is in the different colors that these different types vary.
There are two sections of magic, four that encompass many different abilities but are very difficult to master and six that are easier to master, more common, and are a bit for focused. This is based on when Salem did the magic swirly thing in The Lost Fable and the four big magic balls and the six tiny ones, all being different colors.
The four larger ones are such:
Darkness: The Purple/Black one, magic similar to the God of Darkness’s power ie. destruction, death, darkness. One is the hardest two to master, full mastery gives you power close to the god himself.
Light: The Pale Yellow one, like darkness light too has a magic, similar on terms of being like the God of Light’s power. Also very hard to master. Powers are light, creation, life.
Nature/Earth: The Green one, centers around nature themed powers. Is less difficult then Darkness or Light, but still hard due to having many different aspects. Include shapeshifting (animals), growing/nurturing plants, elemental control (fire, water/ice, wind). [This is the kind that Ozma, and therefore his reincarnation, had because of the general green, the bird powers to the twins, and the maiden powers]
Celestial/Sky: The Yellow/Gold one. Much as green in for nature and the Earth, this magic deals wit the sky. It includes magic relating to the Sun (fire, solid flare like attacks, brightness), the Moon (reflecting back powers/attacks, light and darkness bringing), and the Stars. Same level of difficulty as Earth.
Each of those four relate to a relic in some way, Darkness for Destruction, Light for Creation, Nature for Knowledge (it makes sense if you look at Ozma and the whole reincarnation thing), and Celestial for Choice (it was kinda the only one left).
Destruction: Red, destroying things. I don’t know if I have to explain this that much
Temperature: Yellow, don’t know if that’s the best name but basically making things really hot or cold, like to point where you could light something on fire. (This is actually important okay)
Growing: Green, plant stuff. And I guess earth stuff too.
People: Teal, emotion reading, good with people, that kind of stuff (not Fae glamour though, that’s too far)
Healing: Blue, healing people or animals (not plants). That’s about it.
Creating: Magenta, being able to create things out for magic.
Magic is not hereditary. Everyone is born with the magic gene (for lack of a better term) or the ability to do magic. If a child is around magic while still young, then that will activate the gene even if the parents are not magical. Likewise even if a magic user has a child if they don’t use that magic around the child then the child won’t be magic.
Silver Eyes: Where do those fall here?
Silver eyes seem to be fully genetic, unlike magic. They could relate to magic (ie. coming from a magic source but growing into its own thing over time), or could not and simply be a genetic deviation. It is very unclear where they come from.
If silver eyes do I need come from magic, then it is most likely from a mixture of Darkness and Light, with the destruction and bright light bringing it. It could also be based in Celestial and moon magic.
