I'm having a low when it comes to posting stuff in general right now, but one of the reasons I started this blog was to preserve my memories of all the wonderful encounters I have thanks to my job and there HAVE been a few in the last months.
I hope I find the motivation and especially time to catch up on that, but until then I NEED to share another meeting with Charles Edwards - and Sam Hazeldine from last weekend. 😭
This time it wasn't for work, but for my pleasure alone, because yes, sometimes I pay money for meeting people I admire instead of receiving it. 😂
I also do Cosplay, sooooo....
It was so lovely meeting him again. He complimented my costume ("Oh, you look lovely" - still haven't recovered from that 🫠) and when I got my autograph I told him we met for an interview last year in Berlin and showed him the photo of him, Charlie Vickers and me. I always have some sort of blackout in such moments 😂 so I can't remember what he said exactly but I know that he smiled/laughed and remembered it to be fun.
I was also so happy to finally meet Sam because he wasn't in Germany for the press tour. He's such a kind person and has written an Elvish quote below his autograph for me, the one Adar says to Galadriel when they meet for the first time. 😭 I know of course he did this for others, too, but since I met him as Galadriel it still felt special. 🥰
Also the panels with both of them were soooo interesting and funny. He did his "see you next week in Bonn" video in PERFECT German (and yes, his voice hits in that language too 👀), so the host wanted to know why? Turned out he learned it in school for whatever reason 😅
Props to all the thoughtful and cute questions from the fans during those panels btw. Some fellow journalists could learn a thing or two from this. 😏
So yeah, I had a blast. Sorry not sorry this site looks like an RoP fanblog lol, it's NOT, and I aspire to post more about other movie premiers/interviews. But Rings of Power, both the show and the cast, have a very special place in my heart, so if my gushing is interesting for at least a few fellow fans/Tolkienites than it was worth sharing it. 💗
Magic Con is over and I'm sad about it. Here a few favourite things from the panel!
•Someone asked that if the Shadow and Bone show was a musical, what kind of music would they think would be in it.•
Kit: "...and probably some Enya."
Luke: "It's pronounced Genya!" *pronounces the name*
•Someone asked about their favourite moments from conventions and other things like that.•
Luke's outstanding memory was from a mother who was there with her about 10 year old autistic son with social anxiety, who related to his character David so much that it helped him leaving the house! Luke teared up while telling the audience about this.
Jack said that one of his favourite things is, that the series, may it be the books or show, is a lot about found family and that them working on the show is like that too & that he really feels it being true within the fandom also and that he loves that.
•To the question about what got them into acting•
Sujaya said she's an introvert and used to be really shy as a child. And acting is like her opportunity to express herself through other characters (she's a big Lord of the Rings fan and the realisation came with channeling..I think she said Galadriel? I'm not very familiar with LOTR).
There were so many more moments that I just need to process, but these were some of the most outstanding answers. I love the cast even more now than I did before!
THAT WAS THE BEST CRAWFORD STARRICK COSPLAY I'VE EVER SEEN AND IT LOOKED AMAZING.
HEIGHT AND SIZE DO NOT MATTER IN COSPLAY. IT'S ABOUT THE FUN. AND OUTFIT AND MAKE-UP WERE MORE THAN ON POINT.
And if you feel the need to insult someone, at least do it openly. Don't hide behind anon function. Let everyone know what a fucking piece of shit you are if you feel the need to insult (other) cosplayers who've done nothing to you.
You know, people like you are the cause of unrest at conventions. No one wants you there, because you ruin the fun. Fuck off.
Magic Con photos with the #shadowandbone cast part one ^^ I find it really hard to like pictures of myself, especially if they're taken by someone else than me. The gorgeousness of these guys makes up for it 😄
