People are being told to stay vigilant
It is interesting that these thefts started around World Post Day (9th of October). I only know this because some of the creatures here in the Aetherwood are actually sensitive to the observance of national and international holidays. You should have heard this place on International "Talk like a pirate" day - some of our brownies couldn't drop the accent for weeks, though at least they could talk to their Cornish cousins, the pigsies. And even if you've ever heard a fairy trying to say 'Ahhh' it's the cutest thing ever. Like a mouse trying to roar.
It is possible that it's just some humans stealing metal. But it might also be a rouge hobgoblin, upset by some human it was helping, though the human would have had to be pretty mean for any kind of goblin to go this far. In fact, I may have a suspect in mind, nicking red metal items. I think I'll go have a word with Robin Goodfella, the head of five families of hobgoblins here in England. He might be able to shed some light on these crimes.
Paddy has even been known to lead a coffin down the aisle as part of proceedings
A cat destined for a long career. I suspect somewhere in his ancestry is one of Freyja’s cats who pulled her chariot when she visited the dead of Vikings, most likely Hörn, and I'm sure that he will become an omen of death, or rather a spirit guide, in his own right once he crosses over. I’ve not met this cat myself but I’ve known a few, more direct decedents of Skjálf, Freyja's other cat. They are the type that gets really hung up about their pedigree, and that ginger fur is a million miles away from their luminous grey hair. Hah, they just wish they had Egyptian cats in their ancestry. They don't even have the power to travel between realms these days.
The hot pot pool is said to contain fake vegetables, chillies and even red wine.
I don't think they should be too happy. It only looks like a fake stew pot to humans because the local guild of sentient Jiangshi (hopping zombies) had to restrain their ghoul-like tendencies to eat the flesh of humans. They were bringing far to much attention to the local community of magical creatures, and this was their compromise to minimise the number of investigations. The "pool water" is now served each night in one of the poshest restaurants in downtown Chongqing as part of a Hidden menu option, often with a Steak Tartar to follow. It wouldn't be the first time I've heard of a Human Stew: Cyclopes were known to be quite partial to them back in the day, though they have an arrangement with local swimming baths these days, similar to the one mentioned here. Though I have to admit, persuading Humans to sit and stew themselves in wine and herbs is a heck of a trick.
