Q: How do I sell my soul, and how do I learn magick?
“This is what you shall do; Love the earth and sun and the animals, despise riches, give alms to every one that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown or to any man or number of men, go freely with powerful uneducated persons and with the young and with the mothers of families, read these leaves in the open air every season of every year of your life, re-examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul, and your very flesh shall be a great poem and have the richest fluency not only in its words but in the silent lines of its lips and face and between the lashes of your eyes and in every motion and joint of your body.” ~ Walt Whitman
I use to say, “it’s impossible to sell your soul, regardless of how badly you want wealth and fame,” but the responses I’d get would be, “but it *has* to be! unless Christianity has been lying to me all this time.”[1]; then I use to say, “souls are a dime a dozen, everyone has one, why would anyone want yours?” and the response was generally, “but it’s all I have.”[2]
So, here’s my new approach, in exchange for learning magic I want you to devote your time and energy in taking down Trump, MAGA, the Pro-Life movement and the Republican Party. Magic to fight tyranny involves a practice known as #MagicResistance, which uses rituals, spells and prayers to impede oppressive political movements and authoritarian figures. These workings are viewed by many as a form of spiritual self-defense or a way to administer social justice when mundane legal systems fail.
Here’s your first lesson and it involve something near and dear to my heart, Reproductive Rights Protection:
The Reproductive Rights Protection ritual, titled "Hands Off, Laws Off: Hekate Invocation for Reproductive Rights," is a specialized magical working designed to protect bodily autonomy and safeguard women's health clinics and providers. )(*)( Purpose and Intent This spell is used to defend the right to choose and to target specific politicians, judges, or preachers who lead initiatives to restrict reproductive freedoms. The ritual uses sympathetic magic to overpower these figures with the practitioner's own personal and power. )(*)( Timing and Environment Time of Day: The ritual must be performed at night, never during the day. Specific Windows: Ideal times include during the full moon, in direct response to anti-choice legislation, or specifically during the practitioner’s menstrual cycle (if you have one). )(*)( Required Components Red Candle: Inscribed with "Hands off" on one side and "Laws off" on the reverse using a pin or nail. Anointing Substance: A tiny amount of menstrual blood is preferred for its extreme potency, symbolizing the source of life and power; if unavailable, consecrated olive oil is an acceptable substitute. Target Representation: A photograph, name paper, or printed corporate logo of the opposing politician or organization. Incense: Charcoal with bay leaves and myrrh. Tools: A cauldron or ashtray for burning paper and a piece of red cloth. )(*)( Ritual Procedure Preparation and Anointing: At your altar, dress the inscribed red candle with the blood or oil. While doing so, visualize your personal power transferring into the wax and whisper: "My blood, my life, my power". Targeting: Dab a small amount of the fluid onto the photo or name paper of the target. This act is intended to feel like your energy is overpowering the target. Opening: Place the candle on the altar with the target paper in front of it. Light the charcoal and the candle, then perform a centering ritual to focus your intent. Invocations to Hekate: Petition Hekate of the Crossroads, the "Queen of the starry cosmos" and "Guardian of the realms of the dead". Offer the bay leaves and myrrh to the charcoal as an offering for her protection. The Declaration: Hold the target paper in your left hand at eye level and recite a passionate declaration of sovereignty. Phrases include: "Keep your hands off my body / Keep your laws off my body... My body is my own". The Burning: Light the target paper from the candle’s flame, stating, "Not your choice," and shout with full focus, "MINE!" as you drop the paper into the cauldron to burn. Words of Power: While the paper burns, recite the "barbarous" words of power: AKROKODÊRE MOUISRÔ CHARCHAR ADÔNAI ZEUS DÊ DAMNAMENEUS KYNOBIOU EZAGRA. Closing and Grounding: Once the paper is ash, offer more incense to Hekate and give thanks. Extinguish the candle, clap three times to end the ritual, and ground yourself. )(*)( Aftercare and Storage The candle should be wrapped tightly in the red cloth and stored in a safe, secret place. It then serves as a permanent ward to protect your choice, remaining ready to be used again if reproductive rights are further threatened. Practitioners are also encouraged to "right the balance" after such workings by donating time or money to organizations that protect reproductive health.

[1] Sound of me rolling my eyes.
[2] Which is both untrue and highly pathetic, but if that’s the life lesson someone needs to learn, so be it.
