I found a book called “In a Graveyard at Midnight” at a local estate sale and its the only one I’ve ever found besides Yarns My Mammy Spun that has anything about magisaba. I am happy as a pig in a cold mud pit. I guess I been spelling it wrong though.
All souls week and building my acronia is my favorite time of year, all my family are passed on and i feel close to them during this time.
I lost my copy of “Yarns my mammy spun” by Haseltine Gipson and I’m pretty sure she only gave out so many copies when she was alive and the chance of me findin another is probably real nil. That was my mamma’s book and the only book that I ever read that had good tellings of magisaba and I feel like I lost a huge part of my soul.
My fertility charms worked and I’m pregnant, I’m shocked as shit, but I’m going to have a baby!! If Its a girl I’l name her after my 3xgreat grandma Mahala.
I don’t think I will ever get over the loss of my culture, it makes me upset that there is nowhere for descendants to turn to learn about our beautiful culture thats all but washed away like Walter Plecker always wanted.
Maybe I should write a book, I can’t find any others on Melungeon Spiritual practices like magisaba, but what on earth do i know about writing books.
Mama used to make conjure boxes for her enemies, mostly the women daddy was steppin out with. Just a little box with a black chicken feather and a piece of jewelry from the woman. All those ladies suffered some wild and unexplainable ailment and I think mamas conjure boxes worked.
