disclaimer: remember that you are beautiful the way you are and you do not need to glow up. this post is just a guide to elevating your lifestyle so that you can continue to grow into an even more confident individual <3
i. reduce your screen time: i know. i know what you're thinking- "but how?" i get it. honestly i am also addicted to my phone, but in order to build healthier habits, you have to start small. avoid being on your phone an hour before you sleep and an hour after you wake up. avoid watching something while you eat, and instead be mindful of the food that is going into your body. this way, slowly, over time, you'll find that you won't reach for your phone anymore! reduced screen time will help you give more time to your hobbies and family time. it will help you clear your head and if you tend to feel overstimulated, it's a great way to detox.
ii. practice kindness: practice kindness to others as well as yourself. spreading love and peace doesn't mean you'll have less of it. in fact, spreading joy is one of the most fulfilling things to do. practice positive self talk and go easy on yourself. it takes zero effort to be nice to people and be considerate, because you never know what someone is going through. remember that everyone (including you) is human and there's no shame in making mistakes.
iii. set boundaries: it's important to be kind and accommodating to those around you, but you must remember not to let people take advantage of this kindness. decide what your boundaries are, and don't ever hesitate to speak up if someone crosses these boundaries. remember that no one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
iv. exercise regularly: a lot of people view exercise just as a way to lose weight, but it is so much more than that. it's a way to keep your body healthy and functioning to it's fullest capacity. exercising regularly ensures that you have less health issues in old age which will allow you to enjoy life without stressing about your health. there are so many different ways to exercise, and just 20 minutes every day can go a long way. it is also known for improving your mood and maintaining energy levels throughout the day.
v. eat healthy: okay, i'm not telling you to become a rabbit and eat salads for every meal. when i say 'eat healthy' means making sure that every meal nourishes your body and provides the right nutrients for you. try to reduce fried and processed foods from your diet, and avoid eating too much sugar. of course, it's completely okay to eat it in moderation to satisfy your cravings once in a while. another thing that will help you to eat healthier is to eat well during meals to avoid mindless snacking.
vi. self-care: now, i know that there are so many mixed opinions on self-care on the internet, but self care looks different for everybody. some ways of taking care of yourself are- reading your favorite book, listening to your favorite album, taking afternoon naps, journaling, watching your comfort movie, spending time alone and not socializing or even taking a long shower to clear your head. my advice would be to find what works for you and take time out of the week to take care of yourself.
vii. believe in yourself: this is the most important out of all these tips. i cannot stress enough how crucial it is to have faith in yourself. it comes from trust in yourself and believe that everything will work out in the end. this is a great way to manifest your dream life.
