King Boo's Emblem In Mario Kart Tour

In Mario Kart Tour there is a detail I've seen others bring up but wasn't sure about until recently on how it points to there being to one King Boo.

This detail is the fact both the base King Boo and the Luigi's Mansion King Boo both share the same emblem, likely implying they are the same character.

Now this detail is noteworthy because outside of power-ups racers, the emblem stays the same for a single character across their outfits. The only except being some extra special skins.

Now this detail is important because Toad and Captain Toad have 2 different emblems. Which makes sense because Captain Toad and the Main Toad are not the same character. So this detail was likely done to make that clear. Also, Explorer Toadette retains her Toadette emblem as there is only one Toadette.

I bring that up is if they wanted us to think there were 2 King Boos, they would have done a similar thing with the emblems that they did with Toad and Captain Toad.

Main Toad In SM64DS

Something people often wonder is which Toad is the Main Toad in a Mario game.

A detail that has been noticed is Nintendo will leave a little hint or detail in a game telling us which Toad is the Main Toad. In Super Mario RPG: Legend Of The Seven Stars they make it clear by them being the only Red Cap Toad with a blue vest. In Super Mario 3D World they just straight up tell us.

So in games like Super Mario 64 and by extension Super Mario 64 DS, people have wondered which Toad in this game is the Main Toad. Well it is inferred based on the in-game dialogue in that the first Toad you met in the game is the Main Toad. Main Toad In SMRPG

So a little cool detail Nintendo has started doing as seen in Super Mario RPG: Legend Of The Seven Stars, is making it clear which Toad is the main Toad. Captain Toad Is Not The Main Toad Part 2

Part 1 So as stated int the first part, it was revealed by the producer of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker that the main Toad is not Captain Toad.

Another time this bit of information was reconfirmed was in Toad's character profile on Nintendo Kids Space of The Nintendo Co. Ltd. "Among the Toad friends one is called 'Captain Toad.' He looks like he loves adventure!"...... Basic Google Translation.

Captain Toad Is Not The Main Toad Part 1

While many people assume Captain Toad and the Main Toad are the same person, they actually are 2 separate characters.

The producer of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker made a post on Miiverse stating that Captain Toad is not the main Toad we all know. They mention that the main Toad they are referring to is the one that we play as in games such as Super Mario Bros 2 USA, and Wario's Woods. "By the way, Captain Toad is actually not the same Toad as the Toad who's playable in games like Super Mario Bros. 2 and Wario's Woods." This btw not only confirms Wario's Woods is canon, but SMB2USA as well.

Now here's how I would point out how to tell the 2 apart. Captain Toad has red spots on his head but also wears red shoes. While our main Toad has red spots and brown shoes. In their debut Captain Toad has brown shoes which he probably later swapped out for red ones, but he also wears a red vest. Meanwhile our main Toad only ever wears a blue vest. This may also indicate that the Captain Toad is the Red Toad we see in Super Mario Sunshine who also wears a red vest, and that the Toads we see in this game would later go on to become the Toad Brigade.

As a side note, it seems like the Super Mario Bros. Movie combined both Captain Toad and Main Toad into one character, and has probably lead to further confusion. Part 2 Written by Eris the Lorekeeper

On SMB2USA Toad's Cap Being Blue

So I noticed a lot of people believe the main Toad we all know and love can change his cap's color to Blue. The evidence they use is cap color from Super Mario Bros. 2 USA: Doki Doki Panic, and how it's blue and this is supposed to be the main Toad.

I think this is just weird sprite coloring. The reason is that in all the official art for this game he has a red cap, and in the Allstars remake the make sure to have his cap red. So I believe the canonical way of viewing this game is that Toad is running around with a red cap not a blue cap. Written by Eris the Lorekeeper
