23, ship you've unwillingly come around to 👀
i tend to be pretty open-minded when it comes to ships, but of the few that i've actively disliked before, i think i gotta go with moceit
the direction that thomas and co chose to go in with patton and janus's canon dynamic is not where i thought it would go when janus was first introduced, but they've made such a fascinating duo. and in a way, it makes complete sense; self-preservation can be about protecting your emotions, too.
i also think the frequency with which janus impersonated patton in the past adds a really interesting layer to it. lying to yourself bc it's what you think you should want rather than what you actually want is such a specific and real struggle, and i think both janus and patton are in the right. patton has every right to be furious that someone who he worked very hard to trust and who significantly helped his healing process revealed that they were impersonating him bc they thought it was the best course of action. but janus was also right in judging where thomas was at in his life and trying his best to protect him from getting hurt.
he does a better job of it than virgil a lot of times but that's its own rant
