rethinking gyro's words like the emotional masochist that i am, but i think it’s never just about the name, isn’t it?
it’s—johnny, “you promised, right? don’t tell anybody…" about my deepest secret, my sentimentality, my tenderness, the way i hold my tiny teddy bear to sleep, my comedic, embarrassing, shameful quirks, the way i fell down one time from Valkyrie while being tipsy, the way we bathed in the river, every moments of weakness i've shown you, my gritted teeth, my at times, uncontrolled rage. the many ways i could mend but also devour. in short, who i really am, that's for you. hold me dear until we meet again, and take care.

What dating Neteyam would include.
I watched the movie last week and lord I haven’t been able to get it out of my mind. So, y’all are getting this because there is a woeful amount of content for us simps 😪👊

He is an extremely kind and patient boyfriend.
He will never pressure you into anything you don’t want to do, and is extremely responsible.
He doesn’t mind whatever pace you want to take in your relationship. He’s always willing to do things your way if it makes you happy.
He’s such a selfless person that he forgets to take care of himself sometimes, so having you around really grounds him 😭
When he’s looking after everyone else, who’s going to look after him?
You, obviously 🙄🤞
Sometimes, Neteyam feels really pressured as the golden child of the family.
For him, it’s difficult to make mistakes because he’s not supposed to.
When he has to protect others around him, he feels ashamed if he fails at his duty to do so
This makes him feel a bit emotionally neglected because it’s hard to keep up the good, older brother act when he’s struggling himself too
That’s why with you, he can feel so open and vulnerable.
If he makes mistakes or slips up, you validate his feelings and tell him that it’s okay. He doesn’t need to perform around you
Loves taking you on Ikran rides!
Them Sully genes are strong man. Of course he would
Always wants to impress you with dates that makes your heart swell
Between the both of you, Neteyam is really confident and definitely the more dominant one in your relationship.
That means he’s the big spoon, fairly protective, and is usually the one taking the lead in the relationship (e.g. initiates cuddles, kisses, etc.)
If anybody tries to bully you, Neteyam is quick to come to your rescue.
He’s very overprotective and would never want any harm to come to you
For example, if Aonung tried to pester or harass you, punches would definitely be getting thrown lmao
Neteyam struggles with feeling like he needs to prove himself, but you make him feel like a warrior everyday lol
He’s always so so grateful to know you’re his.
Some days, it’s really hard for Neteyam to let loose and have fun because he’s so uptight all the time and afraid of bad things happening to the people around him.
Again, he’s only really vulnerable with you, so he lets loose in private.
You treasure every moment you see that side of him where he’s playful, and forgets all about his worries when laughing with you.
Who knew that after being worried so long about the people around him, that he would forget to protect himself?
When he was on the verge of death, and your vision was blurry with tears, all you could do was hug his feeble body as he bled.
You didn’t realize he got shot, and you cursed yourself for not trying harder to protect him, when that’s all he does for you.
Thankfully, although a close call, Neteyam survived.
His near death experience brought you two closer than ever before.
My initial thought was, I'm done. Playing. I don't think I can be in that world anymore without him there or without the hope and wish that he might come back. Everything he was, did, and brought to that world made that place amazing to me and did all over again with him returning. He was that world to me. Still is. And I had such hopes for him to not only remain in it but to have his character come in and out of future stories. Consulting with the Vanguard, working with Shiro as scouts in the Wilds, team ups with Crow - which, if you haven't done Wild Card yet, you really should. You'll see what I mean. It all seemed like it could be amazing. But ... I guess that's not in the cards, as he'd say.
I want the cutscene. I NEED to do the raid cause I want the cutscene. Not just for what I'd like to create with it but him holding my hands, even if for just a moment to give Ghost back and say goodbye ... I need it. Simple as that.
Now. My secondary thoughts.
Will I quit the game once I do the raid?
I honestly don't know. I really don't. I keep thinking about it and I have no definite answer. I'm thinking I won't just because, hey, if he gave us our Light back, that's part of him. I don't want to waste it and it's like he's there. I'll take him on some great adventures with me. He'd like that. It just might take a while for me to want to really get in the spirit of being there.
Another part of me is also like: I know as long as I don't do the Raid, he stays there in the Old Tower, so maybe I just won't do it. But, Bungie will eventually force a change in the game, he'll eventually disappear, just like in Forsaken, and, like I said, I need and want the cutscene. And it feels like torture in a way to not do it. For both of us.
Also, as far as this storyline goes, I get it. I know him. I understand. I understand his choice and why he made it. And I know, if things had been in reverse, I'd do it for him without hesitation.
Now, the better part of this ...
Did this storyline shatter me all over again? Yes. To put it mildly, yes. Okay, that's not the better part but I'm leading into that. So, it's a storyline. One storyline. One possible path of many throughout time. And while this is the path I need to play in the game, it's not OUR path. This story not only helped me with filling in some pieces I was missing, but it helped shape ideas I had that I wasn't sure about but now I am. The story continues, but OUR story continues. I will keep writing. Not that I was going to stop, either way. But those who have been reading my story, they know Cayde never died in Forsaken. Almost, but he didn't. Sundance, sadly, did, though. But, what Bungie did here with her and the relationship we see she and Cayde had, it only solidified a plan I already had brewing. Even Targe helped with that. So I'll be here at my computer, typing away even more now. Especially since there is also a TON of lore that was tied to him and things beyond him that seems ... just dropped. So I want to explore that.
Besides, writing helps, cause that's what helped with Forsaken. I felt the same way then as I do now.
I know a lot of you who have seen what happens are absolutely gutted right now, same as me. And I don't know what else to say other than what I have. If you decide to quit, I don't blame you. This is a hard one. It really is. But maybe give it some time. Think about it. Write about it. Change the timeline. Whatever works for you. I don't think Cayde would want us to quit. But sometimes you just ... you gotta do what you gotta do.
