Everyone is doing their part during quarantine and my part today was to give pep talks to those struggling with #wfh. Mondays are hard. Rainy days are hard. And combined, they are especially difficult. I appreciate helping others when I’m feeling good and know that when I feeling down, others will be there to pick me up. The key to getting through these days is to make a schedule and to try keep busy. Today, I showered, put on make up, did my hair, got dressed, finished all my laundry, ironed my sheets, made my bed, rearranged my non-perishables, and made dinner at 6pm. I’m basically a 1950s housewife now. If anyone is in need of a wife when this is over, hit me up. Make Your Bed

Awhile back I was scrolling through social media and came across a post my cousin had made.  She was commenting on how her sister made her bed everyday.  She shared a picture of it, and I was immediately struck by how beautiful, and put together it seemed.  I’ve always had this mad crush on coming home after a long day to a beautiful, well-made, perfect sheets and comfortable bed.  Why wasn’t I doing that?  Of all the “tasks” I put on my “to do list” this would be easy.  

Not long after that post I stumbled across the book “MAKE YOUR BED.”  I’m not kidding the universe works in crazy ways.  The author (Admiral William H. McRaven) wrote in this sweet little book about the little things that can change your life, and maybe the world.  NOTE:  making your bed may not change the world, but it will change your mindset about accomplishing something.  

There are many days I stop and ask myself did I accomplish anything today other than feeling like a ping pong ball jumping from one activity to another.  Then it dawned on me thanks to my cousins post and the Admiral’s book - I can make my bed. 

“Life is hard and sometimes there is little you can do to affect the outcome of your day.  You search for something that can give you solace, that can motivate you to begin your day, that can be a sense of pride in an oftentimes ugly world.  It’s daily life that needs a sense of structure.  Nothing can replace the strength and comfort of one’s faith but sometimes the simple act of making your bed can give you the lift you need to start your day and provide the satisfaction to end it right.  If you want to change your life and maybe the world - start by making your bed.”
