Where do I need to go to find more post-canon Curly, be he all bloody bandages and open wounds or having been found and having had time to heal (to an extent), time travelling to before the crash and scaring the living shit out of everyone.
I want to see the crew's reactions to a stranger on the ship, to seeing the state of that stranger, being caught between worry and apprehension, to finding out who exactly that stranger is.
I want pre-crash Curly to get a brutal reality check on what kind of person Jimmy is and, given that Anya has already communicated her mistreatment to him, to realize that he needs to take action against aggressors, even if he thought they were a good person or even a friend.
I want Anya to feel validated when Curly (definitely post-canon but optionally also pre-crash) apologizes for his inaction and tries to right that wrong.
Bonus points for post-canon Curly punching Jimmy, either physically or verbally (ideally both).
I am so happy that Juan Soto left the Yankees, and we got Cody Bellinger and Paul Goldschmidt!! Here, Cody makes a phenomenal catch and then fires the ball to first, where Goldie gets the second out for a spectacular double play off of Juan Soto's bat!!! That is the universe making things right in the best way possible!! I love it!! 😁😍🤗🤗🤗
LET'S GO, YANKEES!!!!!
The Mets challenged the play. It stands!!! Both outs!! It's a game saving double play!! The play is the day!! You make the call...
That's every view that I could get, and they all look great to me!! Cody Bellinger is a fantastic outfielder who can play anywhere well. He even played first base yesterday. Why, I'm still not sure, but he did it well!! I'm glad that the umpires finally got one right and didn't go against us as they have been for way too long.
YOU GO, CODY!!! ❤️
What a great catch at first by Paul Goldschmidt!! He's a spectacular first baseman!! He's the best one that we've had in a long time!!
I know I haven't really posted in a long time and haven't been on this community but I want to make an announcement.
I know in the past I may have offended or wronged people. Things haven't been great and things went south but I want to make things right and apologize. That's why If I ever done something wrong to someone I am willing to open up and talk about it. My DM's are open so if I have offended someone or they want to discuss about it, I will do so.
Some good years have flown by and certain things have been left unspoken.
AN: I decided to shift my focus to a power couple that deserved so much more. I decided to show Alex and Jo throughout pivotal moments in Season 16 and 17 that I believe would fit them. The next chapter will be released tomorrow like and reblog below and let me know what you think.
Summary: After their second wedding Alex and Jo head back to their loft where Alex brings up the subject of having kids with him and Jo discussing it.
Words: 1314
October 31, 2019
Alex tries to roll the sliding steel door with his foot because he’s busy carrying Jo in his arms bridal over the threshold. She is in her wedding dress only this time she’s wearing zombie makeup that makes her look like bride of Frankenstein in the spirit of Halloween. He wanted to make up for skipping the traditions after their last wedding by doing them after they legally got married twenty minutes ago at the courthouse. He felt the same as he was after their first wedding the only difference is they’re now married on paper.
Jo chuckles at his feeble attempts to open the door, “Here let me get that husband.” Jo grabs the handle and opens the sliding door to Alex’s relief.
“Thank you, wife, now to cross the threshold.” Alex carries Jo inside as they chuckle and grin at entering their loft as an official married couple, “And now to put you down because my back is tweaking.”
Jo grins as Alex lets her down her feet and she heads to the kitchen, “So how does it feel being married? Are you already planning escape routes?”
Alex smiles at his beautiful zombie wife, “Never.”
Jo smiles at that answer, “Good, because I am not gonna let you get away from me so easily.” Jo grabs water bottles from the fridge and hands one to Alex, “A toast to us.”
“To us.” Alex and Jo clink their plastic bottles and drink them before their recent wedding comes into Alex’s mind. When Jo told Alex she was pregnant he was shocked at first but then images went into his head of their life together after. He imagined Jo growing round with their child in her belly and him doting on her and making sure she takes it easy. He imagined holding her hand as she gave birth to their baby and the joy in their eyes as they met their child. He imagined growing old with Jo and having Sunday brunches with their kids and grandkids.
And when she told him she was kidding a part of him was laughing but another part of him was yearning for that dream of theirs to become a reality. He hasn’t brought up the subject since before Jo left to find her birth mom. She came back after depressed and not willing to let him in which worried him of course given his history. He didn’t think there could be a future when she went into treatment, and she gave him an out knowing him well enough to know how triggering the past events were for him. But seeing her do so well and trying to overcome her struggles he knew from then that an out will never be an option for him when it comes to loving Jo.
He's seen her be the strong and caring woman he fell in love with these past few months and knows she would be a great mother. He knows they can give their kids the love and support they never had growing up. But he knows they’re not getting any younger and he should bring up the subject while their joy is fresh.
“Can I ask you something?” Alex asks Jo in front of him who nods as she sips her bottle, “…Do you still want to have kids?”
Jo stops sipping and takes her bottle out of her mouth and caps it with a surprised face, “Um…yeah, I do. What brought this on?”
Alex sighs and sits on the couch patting the seat next to him. Jo takes it and looks at her husband inquisitively. She told him she wanted kids with him and meant it but after her depressive episode it’s been out of her mind for months now. She’s been busy with treatment, and he’s been busy with Pac North the subject never came up until tonight. Yet instead of the stress that Jo would have felt five years ago at this topic she feels comfortable, like she is okay with the idea of kids since she’s in a better place.
Alex clears his throat before continuing, “When you told me you were pregnant at the courthouse, I was excited. I had this whole life of ours in my head where we grow old and play with our grandkids while our kids are talking to us about their lives. I have had that dream since the day I fell in love with you and I have been patiently waiting for you to share that with me. And I know a lot of stuff has gotten in the way but we’ve survived that and we’re in a good place, better even. I’m getting the hang of Pac North, you’re an attending, we both have comfortable lives it…it feels like the right time to start having a family of our own. Does it feel like the right time for you?”
Jo grins tenderly at her husband’s confession before taking a moment to think, “It does, it feels right but…I don’t want to get pregnant.”
Alex furrows his eyebrows at this setback, “What?”
Jo holds Alex’s hand and explains, “When I found out…how I was conceived I went dark and wondered if that evil is genetic. If I can somehow pass that vile act onto our kid and it’s made me decide that I don’t want biological kids. I know it’s silly and you think this is some depressive episode but it’s not. I don’t think I can handle being pregnant, I’m afraid I’ll react the same way my mother did when she was pregnant with me.”
Alex looks at Jo in sympathy and wishes the man who raped her mother was alive so he could kill him for forcing Jo to see her existence as an abomination. But he holds her hand tightly and caresses her white cheek that she leans into seeking his comfort.
“You wouldn’t do that; I know you wouldn’t.”
Jo sniffles and nods, “I know you do but I don’t, I can’t risk repeating the cycle, I want that to end with me.” Jo inhales deeply and proposes something else, “But that doesn’t mean we can’t have a baby, it just means we go another route, one that involves a lot of forms and home visits.”
Alex’s eyes brighten at that feeling hope again, “You want to adopt?”
Jo nods with a smile, “Yeah, I do. I want to give someone like me a chance at a family, a chance of love, a chance with us as parents. I want us to give another wayward baby the love and kindness I should’ve had.”
Alex looks at his wife in admiration as he strokes her hair, “Everyday with you, you somehow manage to find a way to make me love you even more. Let’s do it, today, tomorrow as soon as we can.”
Jo smiles at that response, “You don’t mind that we’re not gonna get pregnant?”
“Jo.” Alex smiles at his bride caressing her cheek, “I don’t care if we get pregnant or not, I care about us expanding our family and having more love to give. And hearing your argument and being a former foster kid too, I also want to give an unwanted baby a chance at a good life. I want to be a good dad just like I know you are gonna be a great mom to however many kids we bring into our house.”
Jo smiles and kisses Alex tenderly for a few moments before pulling back, “Okay first thing to do, is to find an adoption agency to apply for and then we are gonna get a real estate agent so we can move out of this loft and find a suitable house with actual bedrooms.”
Alex smiles at her already planning their future before standing up, “I’ll get the laptop, you keep brainstorming.”
So, here is the story I started for Raiya. It is a post Order 66 story, because that seems to be the majority of what I write, lol.
Please don't hesitate to reblog and comment! I'm still building Raiya as a character after all.
Tagging: @starrrgazingbunny since you helped me with the first part.
The war was over.
The war was over, and Raiya couldn’t bring herself to feel anything but hollow about it.
It felt…wrong, the way it ended.
Oh, sure, Palpa-...the Emperor could spout what nonsense he wanted about the Jedi, but Raiya had been there. She had served alongside the Jedi, and the Clones.
Had even lived among them for a time.
She couldn’t imagine the Jedi being traitors.
They had always been so kind, so good-
Raiya pressed a shaking hand to her mouth, and had to swallow hard to keep her stomach from rebelling.
The war was over. There was no longer a need for Raiya to remain on Coruscant.
Her gaze drifted out the window of her apartment, lingering, just a moment, on the Jedi Temple…the former Jedi Temple. The New Emperor was making it the seat of his power-
Raiya exhaled sharply and slammed the blinds shut.
The Clones would never have turned on their Jedi. Not without good cause. So…maybe the Jedi were traitors?
No.
No. That was impossible. They were so good. Not always kind, but almost always good. Raiya wouldn’t believe that the Jedi were traitors unless Palpatine showed the evidence.
If nothing else, she owed them that.
She walked across her apartment and picked up her datapad, scanning the professionally typed document that she had spent hours on. It was her official resignation from the GAR.
The war was over. There was no reason for her to remain on Coruscant.
She closes her eyes and slowly presses the send button. There’s the ding of her email getting sent, and a second one only moments later, indicating that it’s been delivered.
Raiya grits her teeth, and opens a new tab, and presses send on all of her applications. And then she stared blankly at the now blank screen. This…wasn’t what she expected. At all.
She was never going to see the men again. She would never hear them laugh, or hear their bad jokes, or try not to laugh as they tried their newest pick-up line on her. She would never again go into work and see whatever item they managed to break because of a drunken dare, or hear them plead with her that she needs to fix it before their Commander found out.
Her hands were shaking again.
The 501st marched on the temple. They slaughtered children.
The men she knew would never do that.
Her datapad slipped from her numb fingers and clattered to the floor.
The war was over. There was no reason for Raiya to stay on Coruscant. And she was hollow.
Her eyes closed as she sank into a chair in her kitchen. She tangled her fingers in her hair, and she mourned.
Two weeks later, Raiya had a new job. A new job and a new home on a new planet. Sure, she could have returned to her soul-sucking job from before the War started. A Job on her home planet, where her father could just invite himself back into her life and try to start making decisions for her-
But the very idea of doing that sent a ball of dread into her stomach.
So she politely, but firmly, told the original company that she was flattered that they were willing to offer her her job back, but that she had elected to expand her knowledge base.
In the end, Raiya chose a Biomedical company. The Company itself was based on Alderaan, but she wouldn’t be working there, instead, she would be flown to a decent sized planet in the mid-rim, a planet where the only people living there were biomedical researchers.
The perks were nice, she was given a house with a small yard, and she was also given her own workshop, as she would be the only mechanic on the planet. She was offered free health care (her co-workers were all doctors after all) and food would be provided by one of the dozen or so greenhouses that the doctors ran.
It was lonely. It was so far removed from the hustling life of Coruscant that she was used to.
It was perfect.
“Here we are,” Raiya glanced over at the pilot, a man who also worked for the same company that she now worked for, “Dollos.”
She glanced out the front window, curious as to her new home. And she was stunned into silence.
Aside from the decently sized settlement where they were heading, every inch of the planet was covered in plants or ocean life. The settlement, Raiya realized as the ship headed to the single landing pad, was only so large because there were over a dozen greenhouses in the center of the settlement.
The ship settled on the landing pad, and the pilot lowered the ramp for Raiya. He uttered good luck as he slipped past Raiya to the back of the ship, to start his delivery.
Raiya, for her part, hoisted her bag over her shoulder, and stepped off the ship.
She was greeted by an older Pantoran man, who’s entire face lit up the moment he saw her, “You must be Miss Raiya!” He bounded towards her, much faster than she expected a man in his advanced age to be moving, and he gripped her hands in a deceptively strong grip, “Wonderful! Wonderful! We’ve been so looking forward to meeting you!” He beamed at her, “I am Doctor Jelen Vunro, but please, just call me Jelen.”
“It’s nice to meet you, Mister Jelen.” Raiya said politely as he finally released her hand, “Are you the leader of the town?”
Jelen released a booming laugh, causing Raiya to jump. How was such a small man releasing that much noise? “A town is a bit of an overstatement,” He said once he calmed down, “I believe we are, technically, classified as a Hamlet, as our population is less than 200 people.”
Raiya paused, “That many?”
“Oh, yes. Doctors are allowed to bring their families, you see. Which means our population is larger than it looks. Plus,” He added with a laugh, “Biomedical researchers do not make good farmers.” He winked conspiratorially, “Or teachers, as it turns out.”
“There are kids living here?”
“Oh yes, about 20 under the age of 13 at this point,” Jelen replied, “My own grandchildren live here, with my daughter-in-law.” He motioned for Raiya to follow him, “Now, we heard from HQ that you don’t have any family joining you, so we set you up in one of the smaller houses.” He said, almost apologetically.
“That should be fine,” Raiya reassured, “So long as the workshop is big enough for me to do my work properly.”
“Oh, yes. The workshop is plenty big. We’re fortunate that you applied when you did, our previous mechanic decided to retire to Scarif. Without any warning!” Jelen shook his head, “And then your application came in! I understand you used to work for the GAR?”
Raiya paused, and her fingers tightened around the strap of her bag, “I did, yes.”
Jelen’s gaze softened, and he reached out and lightly patted her hand, “Well, we’re about as far removed from war as you can be.” He said soothingly, “You’ll have plenty of time to recover.”
Recover. That sounded nice.
“I noticed the electric fences-?” Raiya asked, motioning towards one of the massive fences that encircled the Hamlet.
“Oh yes, good eye!” Jelen lightly urged her to continue walking, “When we first settled here, we had a problem with some of the native fauna killing researchers. The Electric fence put an end to that.”
“So the fauna is dangerous outside the fence then?” Raiya asked.
“Very much so, over the next couple of weeks you’ll get a primer on the various flora and fauna we’ve discovered, and if they’re dangerous or not.” Jelen said kindly, “As a mechanic, you shouldn’t have to worry too much about it, but better safe than sorry.”
Raiya nodded her agreement, “Is there anything else I should know?”
“Hm…” Jelen thought for a moment, “Oh, yes. While all of the houses have kitchens, most of us eat communally in the Community Kitchen.” He motioned to the large building that stood at the very center of the Hamlet, “If that’s not to your liking, you can go to the Kitchen and grab a week’s worth of supplies for the three meals of the day.”
“Alright,” Raiya replied.
“The Kitchen is open between 6 am and 9 pm, so you needn’t worry about having meals at certain times.” Jelen continued, “Though, if you elect to make your own meals, you don’t have to worry about standing out. There are plenty of people who elect to eat on their own.”
That was a relief, Raiya couldn’t help but think. The last time she ate communally was on the Resolute, and she wasn’t sure she could handle that just yet.
“Let’s see.” Jelen tapped his chin, “Oh, right. At some point within the next week, Doctor Jay is going to call on you to make sure that you’re healthy. He’s the hamlet’s medical doctor.”
Jelen finally stopped in front of a quaint looking, yellow painted, house. “Here we are. Your furniture was delivered two days ago, and while we took the liberty of uncrating everything, the house still needs to be set up.”
“Thank you, Mister Jelen.” Raiya replied quietly.
“Nonsense,” He smiled at her, “We’re a community, we take care of each other.” He lightly patted her shoulder, “One last thing, next to the Kitchen is a Rec center, it has an indoor and outdoor pool, as well as a library and a movie theater. We’ll get you set up there before the week is over.” Jelen beamed at her, “Welcome to Paradise Falls, Raiya. I hope you will be able to see this place as home.”
“Thank you, Jelen. I’m sure I will.”
Raiya stepped into her new home, and she looked around. Her larger furniture was arranged tastefully, though most of her things were carefully laid out on the couch, or kitchen table.
This far removed from Coruscant, and the new Empire, Raiya felt a sense of ease. Of peace, even. She carefully set her bag down next to the front door, and kicked off her shoes. She needed to get to work. She wouldn’t be able to relax in this mess.
*************
“Damn it!” Arc Trooper Jesse stared at the broken hyperdrive, a feeling of helplessness washing over him. The stupid thing had been working fine, ish, for days, and then it just crapped out on him.
And he wasn’t mechanically inclined enough to even know where to start fixing it.
He released a hiss of pain and pressed his hand against his temple. The blinding headaches definitely weren’t helping. At least he wasn’t losing time anymore.
He suspects that the crash gave him a concussion. But it wasn’t like he could ask Kix. Jesse groaned and rubbed his eyes tiredly.
His life had been one disaster after another since the crash.
He still wasn’t 100% sure if the Jedi were traitors or not. He kept flip-flopping between “yes, obviously!” and “No, how could I think that!”. He was sure Rex could have cleared things up for him.
But Rex had left him behind. Left him for dead.
And wow, that thought still hurt a lot. Maybe he would just not think about that until he could think about his older brother without wanting to cry and scream and rage at the galaxy as a whole.
Plus, slipping into a depression wasn’t going to help him with the fucking hyperdrive.
Jesse turned when there was a, frankly alarming, pop from next to him.
“...Fuck.”
And then alarms started blaring.
“Double fuck.”
And then the onboard computer alerted, in gentle monotone, that they were going to crash.
“Triple fuck.”
This was just not Jesse’s month.

“Look, all I’m saying,” Raiya said, her arms folded over her chest, “Is that maybe I wouldn’t have to repair your droid every other day if you replaced the wheels that were made for spacecraft, for something a little better able to traverse mud…and vines.”
“Absolutely not!” Kel Phan, a twi'lek doctor, said loudly as he wrapped his arms around the astromech, “He’s perfect just as he is!”
The droid let out a depressing little trill, and Raiya pinched the bridge of her nose, “I understand that you love him just as he is, Kel. I do. But there’s only so many times I can dig mud out of him and untangle him from vines, before he starts breaking down.”
Wow, this conversation felt familiar. Raiya was pretty sure she had had an identical conversation with General Skywalker about R2-D2 before.
“But-”
“I’m not changing anything that makes him, him.” Raiya pushed, sensing weakness, “It’s just a cosmetic change. Like when your wife dyed her hair. That didn’t change who she was as a person, right?”
Kel paused, and then scowled at her, “You sound like you’ve had this argument before.”
“So many times.” Raiya admitted, “It didn’t work on him, but I’m hoping you’re less stubborn.”
“Fine! But I want you to promise that you’ll save what you remove.”
“Absolutely.” Raiya promised, before she reached out and lightly patted the Astromech on the top of its forest green dome, “You hear that, pal? No more getting stuck in mud or on vines!”
The droid let out an excited trill and bumped into Raiya’s leg, twice.
Kel opened his mouth to say something, looking sulky, but was cut off when Jelen ran through the open door. His pale blue skin was somehow even paler than usual.
“Jelen?”
“Is something wrong?” Kel asked, as he and Raiya turned to look at the older man.
“A ship just crashed several clicks outside the electric fence,” Jelen gasped out, “It’s all hands on deck.” He turned his serious gaze on Raiya, “Has the Big car been repaired.”
“Yes, I finished this morning.” Raiya confirmed, “Let me get the keys.” She turned and hurried further into her shop.
“Grab a travel bag too! We might need you to cut open the ship to see if there are any survivors!” Jelen called.
Raiya ran back into the room, and handed Jelen the keys, she also had her bag slung over her shoulder, and was wearing her tougher leather jacket, “Here.”
Jelen nodded, “Raiya, you’re riding with me and Doc. Kel-”
“I’ll take my bike with the rest of the gatherers and make sure that nothing dangerous sneaks up on you while you’re working.” Kel said, already running out of the workshop.
“Thank you,” Jelen called after him, “Come on Raiya, Doc is waiting for us.”
The crash was bad. The ship was all twisted and contorted, but the body of the ship seemed mostly intact.
“What kind of ship is this?” Jelen asked, frowning at it. “I’ve never seen this style before-”
“It’s a GAR ship,” Raiya said, already moving past him to examine the ship with a sharp eye, “Designed for short range, but-” She motioned so some scoring on the hull, “Someone was using it for long range travel.”
“You can tell that just by looking at it?” Doc asked.
“Yup.” Raiya allowed her gaze to travel across the ship, “Assuming whoever was in the ship elected to remain in the body, rather than the cockpit, they’re probably still alive.” She finally said.
“Can you get in?” Jelen asked.
“Of course I can,” Raiya dug a very specific tool from her bag and headed over to the ship. She effortlessly climbed up onto the side, and she started working.
It took her 30 minutes of hard work before there was an opening big enough for her to slide though. She needed to find out if the person inside the ship was still alive.
She slipped through the opening, and lightly lowered herself onto the solid floor. No fire, no sparks…seemed safe enough.
She ducked under some wires, and pushed a door open, her eyes scanning for any people who might be on board.
There.
Sitting in one of the jump seats, was-
Raiya’s breath caught in her throat. Jesse.
She carefully moved through the wreckage and crouched at his side. Bumps and bruises, a gash on his forehead and a clearly broken arm. But he was breathing. He was alive.
“Okay.” Raiya exhaled slowly, “Okay. I’m going to get you out of this, Jesse. I promise.” She looked around a moment longer, and realized that he was alone on the ship, which was…concerning. To put it mildly.
And then she put her concerns out of her mind, mentally mapped out the shuttle, mentally orientated it how it crashed, and she started working. It was always easier to work from the inside out anyway.
******
Jesse woke slowly. Which was surprising, since he hadn’t expected to wake up at all. How many crashes could he walk away from, anyway?
Actually, now that he was thinking about it, he felt pretty good for a guy who was just in a crash.
“Ah. Back with us, are you?” Jesse blinked the sleep out of his eyes, and turned his head to look at the man standing in the doorway. He had either just entered the room, or had been waiting for him to wake up, and Jesse just hadn’t noticed him. The man, clearly a doctor, smiled kindly, “You gave us quite a scare, my friend.”
“Only you,” The Doctor reassured, as he crossed the room and settled on a stool, “How are you feeling?”
“Surprisingly pain free, considering.”
“You spent three days in a bacta tank, came out, had surgery, and then went back in a bacta tank for another two days.” The Doctor said dryly.
Jesse blinked, “Surgery?”
“Oh, yes.” He nodded, “We brought you back from the ship and put you in a tank almost immediately, but your vitals kept indicating that you were in pain. We thought it was just how you reacted to being in Bacta, but our mechanic insisted that we pull you out and do a full scan to see what was hurting you.” The Doctor smiled, “So we did.”
“You found something?” Jesse asked, “Like, from the crash?”
“We did. And that’s what we thought at first,” Doc replied, “But…” He shook his head, and picked up a small glass bottle that Jesse hadn’t noticed until that moment, “We found this on your brain.”
“...it looks like a computer chip,” Jesse pointed out. Though it was broken in half.
“That’s what we thought, so we showed the mechanic, she knows the most about tech things,” Doc said, “She took it, looked at it, and told us that it didn’t come from the ship.” He set the jar back on the side table, “According to her, it’s Kaminoan.”
“...the longnecks put a chip in my head.” Jesse said, somehow not surprised. “What was it used for?”
“No idea. And, with it damaged, we have no way to find out.”
Jesse sighed and sank back into the surprisingly soft pillow, “How would your mechanic know if something was Kaminoan or not?”
“Hm? Oh, she used to work for the GAR. She left when the GAR became the Imperial Army.” Doc shrugged, “Poor thing seemed to have left her smile on Coruscant-” He shook his head. “She’s been worried sick about you, my friend. I’ll let her know you’re awake.”
Jesse wasn’t even given a chance to respond, as the Doctor swept out of the room before Jesse could even come up with a response. So he just sighed and shifted so he was sitting up a little more.
He was left alone with his thoughts for less than 10 minutes before he heard the sound of boots just outside his room, and then the door slid open, and for a moment Jesse stopped breathing.
It was her. It was Raiya.
Her dark blue hair was pulled into a messy tail, and there was oil smeared on her cheek. She was wearing her normal work jumpsuit, though it was black rather than the grey and blue that she wore with the GAR.
She was beautiful.
“Rai-” Jesse breathed out, “You’re here. You’re okay.” He hadn’t even realized that he was so worried about her getting hurt due to the Empire, but now that he was looking at her, tension that he hadn’t noticed was slowly draining from his body.
She smiled at him, slow and small, but so painfully real. “Jesse,” She murmured. Raiya crossed the room quickly, though she hesitated before she tried to touch him.
That was unacceptable, Jesse decided in a half formed thought, as he reached out and hooked his arm around her waist and pulled her down on top of him, immediately burying his face into her hair.
She smelled like a mix of her ridiculously fruity shampoo and engine oil. A scent that was uniquely Raiya, and Jesse tightened his grip around her. It was a scent that he long associated with safety.
He felt her arms slide around his neck, and he felt her tears soaking his shirt. “We’re okay, Jesse.” She whispered against his chest, “We’re going to be okay.”
And, for the first time in ages, Jesse allowed himself to think that maybe they would be.

“She would have been proud of you, Caleb. I know I am,”
Did you know Commander Grey is alive in Different Journeys AU? Well now you know!
Caleb, with the help of Captain Rex and friends, gets Grey de-chipped. But not before there is Confrontation, DRAMA, heartbreak, force ghosting, crippling survivor’s guilt and TEARS. So much tears.
Grey proceeds to give Caleb terrible flirting advice because they are both clueless idiots. He would later fight for ‘favourite grand-buir’ rights with Cham over Jacen. It’s dirty.
He’s also that one trooper that insists on fighting with a vibroblade. Ezra thinks that makes him 1000x times cooler than Everyone because he pulls his sword off his back very dramatically. Grey is both touched and smug about this.
He once gave Caleb a haircut when the latter’s hair got too long. Caleb specifically asked not to get a buzz-cut. He got a buzz-cut. When Hera saw Caleb in the morning, she screamed in terror and fear of the unknown, sobbing inconsolably until Caleb and Grey assured her his hair would grow back. After a few months.
(Also! Despite his namesake, he somehow manages to keep a full crop of (mostly) jet-black hair. It drives Wolffe insane with jealousy)
