This is not unlike first gigs I went to by @ThrobbingGrstle where music was made ‘somewhere else’. Then it was music the machines made, now its music by text/code, and across the globe simultaneously. Just, wow! @DigiCatapult #newsounds #newstyles http://pic.twitter.com/GAW8m6vmWQ

While I was away, the 40th anniversary of the first Buzzcocks single happened. Difficult to believe it was released so long ago. Buzzcocks were a seminal punk/new wave band and remain one of my favourites. The combination of Diggle on guitar and Shelley on vocals was an intoxicating cocktail. They produced some of the best singles of the punk/new wave era. The cover and lyrics were controversial in 1977 and I'm sure the single was banned by the BBC and a number of pressing plants refused to produce the sleeve. I loved their 'no fucks given' outlook and the artwork by Malcolm Garrett is iconic and groundbreaking. I remember buying the single as a young school kid and getting a hiding from my late father due to the pornographic sleeve and lyrics. I note from @pruffs IG feed that there is a thing going on in Manchester to celebrate the release shortly. I'm unlikely to be able to make it, but would recommend it to anyone in or around Manchester. Punk rock changed the world and continues to be a major influence some 40+ years on. Story ends. #buzzcocks #orgasmaddict #malcolmgarrett
