Beautiful Skin
It was totally (Izzy's) Alec's idea, that after whatever they've been through lately, from Magnus loosing his magic to the resurrection of Jonathan, they needed to spend time together...without the weight of the world drowning them below and apart.
So this was totally a Date! A one without barries, as Alec would say. He didn't want to be a shadowhunter today, dating a warlock who lost his magic....They were just two people in love tonight and nothing more.
So at 7.30 Alec comes to the loft, hands carrying a champaign bottle and half done food, with his breath wavering a bit with nervousness and anticipation. His face was lot up in a constant smile at the thought of getting to spend time with the man inside.
"Magnus I'm here! I've got everything half done. I'll just prepare the rest" he called once he entered and continued to the kitchen.
"I'll be out in some time darling" Magnus said from the shower.
Magnus stood there looking in the small mirror of the bathroom... wondering when was the last time he let anyone see him like this, raw. Without colour in eyes, without metal gracing his finger or with his hair down in a soft melody.
Wondering if Alec will think the same of him, love him the same or if worse things will ensue. Maybe he'll not love him as much even though he doesn't say so. Maybe he would treat him like he was what he believed, scared and ugly.
He moves to button up a simple black shirt till a little skin shows at his collarbone, hands trembling.
He shouldn't be so nervous, so anxious.
How bad could it be after all right?
He leans his hands to pick up some rings from the dressing drawer out of habit but stops mid way, shuts his eyes and takes a deep breath.
"It'll be fine" he murmers to himself and consolidates the courage to walk out.
"Stop combing your hair princess...." He hears his boyfriend say. Alec works with a bright grin plastered on his face while he sets the food on to the table in front of the couch and sets up a few blankets to make the setting cozy and comfortable.
A click suggests the opening of the bedroom door followed by a nervous Manus walking through. His eyes dawn upon Alec who's dressed in a simple black heley and soft black pants, let down hair with no gear or fancy leather jackets encompassing his body.
Magnus' eyes can't look anywhere but at his lover and how beautiful he looks, layed back and comfortable within the space of the loft while moving swiftly while righting the setup.
His insecurities wander in his mind again and he beams a nervous smile, stepping forward.
"I see you have got everything prepared Alexander...." He says in his usual giddy voice.
Alec turns to look at Magnus only to let his heart skip a beat, and then another maybe. He stands there dumbfounded, Magnus looks beautiful in his own skin, everything about him sends shivers to Alec's spine.
"I....Um.....I thought....That...." when did he loose the ability to form coherent sentences again?
He can't help but notice that little skin showing where the older man's shirt buttons are done a little too low for his own lungs to catch oxygen. How Magnus' hair, with no bright colours make his skin shimmer. How his eyes, even with no glitter or colour sparkle in the dim lighting of the loft, it does things to Alec's body and more to his soul, makes him float and thus feel a little dizzy for a moment.
Unable to regain his composure Alec quickly drops his gaze to the ground and the walls on his right, everywhere but at Magnus.
He blinks trying to hold back to the earth in the moment. He's blushing so much that he's sure it's showing on his pale skin.
Magnus stands there too dazzled with his own trail of thoughts that he can't enable himself to understand what Alec is thinking.
"You think I look hideous don't you?" He finally let's out with a sigh, looking at the ground, his fumbling hands entwined with each other in nervousness.
"I get it....Its understandable" he continues folding his hands to his chest as of to hold himself up and gain balance.
The shadowhunter suddenly looks up more confused then ever "What? What do u mean?" He questions with furrowed brows.
"Its okay if you think that I look ugly or beastly Alec...I would think so too maybe if I was in your pla.."
Magnus is cut off by Alec crashing there lips in a sudden embrace. He kisses magnus hoping to say everything he's thinking and more. Its passionate and gentle at the same time sending shivers to both their bodies.
Alec's hands wrap at Magnus' neck as to bring him even closer if that was actually possible and then pulls away a moment later needing air.
"You have no clue how beautiful you are do you?" Alec says facing down, forehead pressed to Magnus'.
Magnus looks up at his boyfriend in awe as if trying to know if he heard him right.
"I think your the most beautiful thing on earth Magnus and nothing.....Nothing about you is hideous. I am the luckiest man because I have you" Alec says gaze fixed to the warlock's, caressing his cheek with his own thumb lightly. It's grounding to Magnus, telling him it's all real.
Magnus can't help but look at Alec with the softest expression of disbelief and happiness at the same time, pearls waiting to flow through the corner of his mesmerizing cat eyes, even though they aren't anymore.
"I love you Magnus"
"I love you too Alexander"
They stand there in a peaceful silence for a few moments, cherishing each others touch against their own.
Alec eventually leads them both to the couch which he set up earlier.
"There is steak, medium rear and some noodles from that place you like and I brought some Champaign"
"Its perfect." Magnus admits, because it's true, it is perfect.
They smile and for a moment they feel light, like the whole world isn't falling apart around them. As if everything will be okay if they stay like this, in their home surrounded by love.
Malec + Night sceneries
>>… It was after our night in Tokyo. We were at the palace hotel. And we kissed on the terrace. And then you… <<
malec + 28. “This is why we can’t have nice things.”
Magnus groaned looking at his ruined jacket. He and Alec had been on a walk together in the park, taking advantage of what little free time they shared to achieve a moment of peace and solitude, when a horde of Ravener demons appeared out of nowhere. The two of them dispatched them quickly, but they both ended up covered in venom.
“Magnus, are you alright?” Alec asked, the moment the last demon evaporated. He dashed over to his boyfriend with concern, checking for injuries, as he removed his own venom-soaked jacket.
“I’m fine. My jacket, however, I believe did not survive the encounter” he replied, gingerly shrugging it off. Inspecting the damage, he pursued his lips. He was right; the venom had already eaten through the fabric and stained what was left.
“Yeah, mine didn’t make it either,” Alec nodded, gesturing to the leather mass in his hands.
“So first the demon mess up our lunch date, and then destroy our wardrobe?” Magnus joked. “You know, this is why we can’t have nice things.”
“I don’t need them. I have you.” Alec smiled, a genuine intensity bright in his eyes.
Magnus looked up at his boyfriend and wondered how he was so lucky as to have found a man who loved him so much. Smiling softly, he reached out to grab Alec’s hand and pulled him in to a gentle kiss.
Silently, they both wished they could just take the rest of the day off, shirk their responsibilities, and abscond to some new place halfway around the world for the rest of the day. But that moment in the park, as brief as it may have been, would have to be enough. And it was.
Give you something good to celebrate
Alec woke up early as always. Although, now it was less about his duty, and had more to do with his issue falling asleep. Since the demon attack, he still felt weird around Clary. And now he had the added guilt of aiding Clary in her quest to get her mother, and how he had let Iris split them up. And Valentine was still very much on the loose, plotting God knows what. When he closed his eyes, he saw himself covered in blood, heard Izzy's voice, or imagined himself running through Iris'. With the stress of everything going on his quick glance at the date didn't ring any bells. He went through the motions of his boring routine, grabbing a small breakfast with coffee, reporting to the OPS center, filling out reports concerning the demon attack. No one paid him any more attention than usual, still reeling from the attack on the Institute and the Silent Brothers. He had his head bent, shoulders slouched as an extra precautionary measure. He was unbothered for a few hours as he worked before he felt two arms wrap around him.
Malec in the PhotoBooth
I can just imagine Mangus dragging Alec into a photo booth in Japan and Alec complaining it was all mundane romantic stuff but then secretly enjoying it.
Inspired by a conversation with @12daily
how i think their tokyo date went
as requested by the lovely @darpom15 ! thank you so much for this prompt, i don’t know how i never thought of writing it before :)
(this also turned out to be much longer than i expected lol sorry)
They had just finished dinner and Magnus had somehow managed to convince Alec to go to a bar for a couple of drinks. The two stopped in front of an overflowing building with neon lights lining the windows and Alec immediately tensed up. “Magnus…” Alec said cautiously, causing the man to stop in his tracks in front of him.
Magnus turned to face Alec with a hopeful smile. He knew exactly what Alec was thinking and sighed. “I know you wouldn't have come if I told you it was a gay bar, Alexander.” Alec hesitantly looked back at the doorway of the bar. “It's a Downworlder bar too, it'll be fine,” reassured Magnus, reaching a hand out to Alec, a comforting smile on his face.
Throwing all caution to the wind, Alec took Magnus' hand. He couldn't stay in his own bubble forever. He was just starting to feel comfortable in his own skin and he had to take advantage of the opportunity to branch out when he had the time. As soon as they stepped in, Alec's hand became sweaty and Magnus noticed almost immediately. Alec looked around the place, at the Vampires, Seelies, and even the odd Shadowhunter. He knew the Shadowhunters in Tokyo had a better relationship with Downworlders and Alec could only wish it were the same back in New York.
He also noticed everyone in the bar was exactly like him and Magnus. Men with men, women with women, just people with people, out to have a fun night, and Alec decided to do the same. He tightened his grip on Magnus as they weaved through the crowd up to the bartender.
“Nice to see you stop by again, Magnus,” said the bartender while serving another customer. Magnus turned his head in surprise and smiled at the man.
“Always a pleasure, Hinata!” exclaimed Magnus, beaming.
Alec looked between the two, an eyebrow raised. “You two know each other?” asked Alec. He looked the man behind the counter up and down, noticing his pale skin and the sharp teeth poking through his grin. Vampire.
Hinata threw his head back in a laugh. “Oh, we go way back,” he replied, walking up to the two. Alec noticed Hinata had red streaks through his hair, similar to how Magnus did his own sometimes. The glitter under his eyes was also a dead give away that the two had previously known each other.
Magnus nodded and looked back at Alec. “Hinata was the one to introduce me to the nightlife here in Tokyo. Right up his alley,” chuckled Magnus, looking at him fondly. Alec hardly got to see this side of Magnus. The look he gave Hinata was one that Alec had never seen before but he quickly recognised it as a look that said 'God, I've missed this'. And Alec caught himself grinning at Magnus.
“Almost 70 years ago now, if I'm not mistaken.” Hinata turned towards Alec. “And even then it was rare to see Magnus Bane walking around with a Shadowhunter on his arm,” said Hinata. He pointed at Alec. “You must be special,” he commented with a smirk on his face and Magnus' smile only grew.
Alec let out a carefree laugh and placed a hand on Magnus' back. He excused himself for a moment to use the bathroom and braced himself before turning back into the sweaty crowd. Just as he was making his way back to Magnus, Alec couldn't help but overhear a conversation that a group of Seelies were having. He didn't understand much due to the conversation being in Japanese but he knew enough to pick out some words.
Alec hurried his way over to Magnus and Hinata. Placing a hand on Magnus' arm, Alec said, “I think we might wanna leave.”
A look of worry overtook Magnus' face and his features became tense. “Why? Did something happen?” asked Magnus. He was sure that Alec had been enjoying himself until now.
Alec shook his head and swallowed hard. “I overheard two Seelies on my way back. I didn't really understand everything but I did hear the words 'bastard', 'fortune', and 'Magnus' in the same sentence, so…”
Magnus frowned and looked around behind Alec, scanning the crowd for a familiar face. Hinata laughed loudly behind the counter and they both turned to him questioningly. “I heard that too,” he said and looked down in order to concentrate on hearing the Seelies better. “Magnus… has another thing… coming… if he thinks he can show his face here again,” relayed Hinata slowly, translating as best he could. Alec's eyes went wide as he stared at Magnus. Hinata chuckled. “Sounds like you're in big trouble this time,” he said pointedly and Magnus cringed.
Magnus had messed with so many people in his life that he couldn't even remember what he had screwed up all the way back in Tokyo. He looked over Alec's shoulder again and racked his brain for any sign of his wrongdoing. Suddenly, through the crowd, Magnus locked eyes with the group of Seelies that Alec had described and he felt his stomach turn. But in a way that made him excited.
“Yeah we should leave,” said Magnus, getting up and grabbing Alec by the arm. The Seelies began walking towards the pair. “Scratch that – we should run.”
Alec started in surprise as Magnus pulled on him as hard as he could, making his way to the exit as quickly as possible. Alec couldn't believe what was happening. What were the chances that Magnus would run into someone he was avoiding all the way in Tokyo? The cold air hit them harshly as they stepped out onto the streets and then they were running. They ran and ran and ran until they could be sure that they had lost them. They ran until they reached a dark alleyway that Magnus pulled Alec into. Magnus seemed to know Tokyo like the back of his hand and Alec couldn't fathom how one man could be so smart.
They stopped running once they reached a kind of pond, dark and empty of any Mundanes. The two collapsed onto a bench, panting and collecting their breath while at the same time laughing uncontrollably. They couldn't believe how a seemingly peaceful date had turned into something so chaotic. Magnus pulled on Alec's elbow and placed his hands on either side of the boy's face. He kissed the boy slowly amidst the laughter and Alec grinned into it, still coming down from the adrenaline rush.
“I was going to ask how much you owe them, but I don't think I wanna know anymore,” chuckled Alec. Magnus laughed back.
“I'll be honest, Alexander. I don't even remember,” he said, sending Alec into another laughing fit. Alec leaned back in the bench and looked at Magnus, a smile creeping its way onto his face without even trying. It had been so long since either of them had laughed that hard. Magnus turned his gaze towards the pond and Alec admired his grace.
Looking behind them, Alec noticed a souvenir shop across the road. “I'll be right back,” he murmured to Magnus, not wanting to disturb the silence. Magnus nodded and relaxed into the seat.
Alec skipped across the road and made sure not to take long. He picked up a red omamori, paid quickly, and shoved it deep into his pocket. He didn't want to give it to Magnus just yet. He made his way over to the Warlock again and placed an arm around him. Magnus leaned into the touch, breathing in Alec's pleasant scent. “What now?” whispered Alec against Magnus' skin, making it tingle.
Magnus never understood how Alec was able to do that. He sometimes played around with his magic, but Alec, his touch alone made Magnus crazy. He turned to face his boyfriend and grinned from ear to ear which made Alec's heart skip a beat. “To Prague.”
i hope you enjoyed, let me know what you think! if you have any prompts or scenarios for me, please head over to my ask box.
