Tsukki : Trust me... You can...
Alec laughed, a small, slow, rasped exhale. "Fine," he said quietly. He felt the ground lift away as his eyelids drifted closed. He blinked them open again. His height, which as the Warden he had noticed was lesser than the Kestrel's by two or three inches, though still considerably tall, made carrying Alec difficult, a tangle of long limbs drooping from his arms at uncomfortable-looking angles. Alec's head banged against the Kestrel's shoulder. "Where to?" The UC asked him. Alec's eyes closed, opened, then closed again heavily. "The subway," he replied, voice soft and low. They reached the end of the alleyway, and the Kestrel was careful to avoid the third body, draped on its back across the floor. Alec surveyed it before they turned away. A man. His eyes, once again, drifted shut. This time they didn't re-open.
Thump. Thump. Thump, went the Kestrel's heart.
Alec fell asleep just as the police sirens began to scream.
- An extract from my fic, the Journalist, a Malec TSC au currently at 60k words. Chapter 25 was posted last week. Enjoy!!
WTF? I woke up today thinking everything is all fine and dandy, when on my merry way, then found out Tumblr and IOS banned one of the first queer representations in a modern fantasy series! Like what the hell! Alec was one of the first LGBTQ+ characters I came across in a Young adult novel, back when there was only a handful of queer characters in YA, and coming across one was like finding the Golden ticket in a Wonka bar.
Come to think of it, Alec and Magness was one of the first-ever gay canon ships I came across that wasn’t toxic or somewhat problematic (for their time). We can’t judge them by today’s stander and banned Alec because of a few inappropriate posts by fans. No matter how much LGBT representation we get in the new YA series: It will never replace the wonderment of cracking open a novel, when gay marriage was illegal in all 50 states and don’t ask don’t tell was the default, and discovering that it’s OK to love someone of the same gender as your self; When the rest of the world tells you otherwise.
IOS and Tumblr, please, please, please, please, please give him back to us!
Soft Moments like these.
The way Alec and Magnus love each other is so pure
