thinking abt how in that ask where cassie said we look best in the eyes of those who love us but in tda nobody loves kit, and so while we do see characters kind of describe him as nice-looking its pretty surface level and usually in the context of him looking like a herondale or christina thinking he looks like he could very easily get away with scamming someone, and mostly they describe him looking uncomfortable or miserable or something (or kieran saying his eye color is basic LMAO)-

and then in gotsm which is the first time we have the pov of a character who loves this boy jem actually describes him as himself and what his smile looks like and how happy he is at the shadow market and how he loves sweet things and how he tries to hide when he's vulnerable and how special and unique his laugh is

idk im just emotional about this again and can't wait for more in twp

but what gets me most is the closing phrases: with hope at last, Will Herondale. whatever else I may be, I remain always, your Jem.

it will always be deeply funny to me that Jem met Jace as a kid & had this giant philosophical moment thinking about how after all these years he still saw Will in the strangest places, in this total rando child meanwhile thats his great great great great nephew/first cousin four times removed/future step great great great grandson he's talking about like SIR!
