An intense standoff between two of my characters.
Iceac switched to the side of the villains, relishing the opportunity to take on the one he considers his most hated rival.
Malron just doesn't want to hurt him.
kicks my feet excitedly !!!! asking about my little babies whomst i love so much
half of them were technically created by my boyfriend (@arlettartifex hii i love you) but we share custody of all our ocs bc they exist in the same universe so alas . they are also mine <3
technically all of these characters are d&d characters/npcs because they were made for d&d but at what point does it become so far removed from the game that it's no longer remotely the same thing ? ship of theseus.
the rest of this is going under a cut so i dont clog ppls dashes with a massive post
soooooo theres like 100+ canon characters that exist at current time, number regularly increasing every time we make someone new bc there's always space for more. but it's pretty split into what i would consider 3 sections
main characters, side characters, and background characters
the concept of a main character speaks for itself . the characters i would consider to be our 'main characters' are belmaia, phil, finn, storm, arlett & malron... they're the main characters because they're just Extremely Important to the plot all the time in a way that can't rlly be undersold
side characters are still pretty important and arguably get just as much 'screentime' as the main characters... it's just that the plot tends to just involve them as opposed to revolve around them? characters like viktor, lilith, erilyn, the whole crew of the siren, eladove, etc...
and then theres the background characters who were made to fill minor roles and sometimes reappear for plot purposes like cyril and faustine
a lot of characters get upgraded from being a background character to a side character bc we just love them too much and they keep coming back/becoming more relevant (which is what i think has happened to esther and wesley as of recent...)
BUT thats enough rambling about my weird meta perspective on my own characters . we aren't here for that. we're here for lore. i don't want to get super in-depth about it because it's kind of convoluted when you get down to it but basically there are 9 canon worlds that exist in a kind of multiverse that each follow their own story, just revolving around the same characters in different what-if scenarios. a lot of characters act very differently depending on which world you're talking about . the difference can be literally night and day since in some worlds members of our main cast are the heroes and in others they're the main villains (see: belmaia in w4 (hero) vs w9 (villain)). it all just depends on the scenario they've been put into and how it changes their character development
the 'main' ones i tend to talk about are world 4 (what i would consider closest to a true canon, since it's the original, and the first one my boyfriend made :]), world 7 (the first world i made), world 1 (because it's basically a 'modern' au set roughly the early 2000s and also it has a fully fleshed-out plot) and world 8 (BECAUSE IT'S AWESOME!!! no extra notes)
i will ashamedly admit that world 5 currently has little to no concept outside of a joke we once made about it being the world where everything is either yaoi or yuri and there are no het ships. i stand by the opinion this should be kept as canon .
i'll also give a summary of some of the characters i talk most about so if any of them interest you you can feel free to ask me more questions abt them or look through their tags on my blog (which i will also include on this post)
belmaia — descendant of the devil who cheats death on multiple occasions & has really cool blood manipulation magic (she can set her blood on fire!). my main oc. experiencing a new trauma every other week but she's always locked in to deal with it
phil — sad to say his entire character is being belmaia's brother but it's true . it's his main arc. in at least one scenario he dies saving her. under a technicality he's her familiar and not a 'real' person. this is a point of contention quite often in my mind. but he's also a big massive lizard man who's just a puppy at heart so i love him <3
storm — either a navy officer, vice admiral, admiral, or a cop... ex-cop depending on what part of the plot we're talking about. lesbian with past-love related trauma because her girlfriend wonder always dies in some extremely tragic way early in the plot (unless it's world 5 i swear i'm determined to canonize that she's alive in world 5)
arlett — i can't talk about him normally. stupid idiot. he's not he's actually an extreme genius he's also just kind of an asshole to like Everybody because his sense of humour is shitty banter. has been described as 'basically batman'. also can't die, he's like a mosquito. really really hates his shitty father and brother, but is a mama's boy
finn — actually the most obnoxiously righteous person you could ever meet. he is literally magically compelled to do good in most scenarios. too bad that 'good' is usually dictated by a corrupt leader who's manipulating him. ACTUALLY the strongest person alive usually alsooo hes a fish man :]
malron — the most dad-coded man to ever exist like im sorry to every other dad-coded male character in this canon but he is THE dad. he loves his daughter so much he literally locks in trying to stop the entire world from going to shit in every scenario to try and make things better for her. also he loves his dead wife and misses her a lot .
