Panic
(small tw for a panic attack and small Season 2 spoiler warning)
Daichi turned over on the mat he slept on, looking up at the ceiling. Why was he awake? They were in a training camp with Fukorodani, Nekoma, Shinzen, and Ubugawa. Did he hear a noise? No, something while he was asleep. He frowned, eyebrows knitting together as the captain tried to remember why on earth he was awake, why his heart seemed to want to leave his body.
The dream he'd had hit him with such force that he sat up quickly. He relived the moment when he'd slammed into Tanaka face-first. He reached up, touching the spot on his face where their forceful encounter occurred, leaving him one tooth short and with a memory that he couldn't seem to get rid of. His chest felt tight and his heart picked up again. The hand on his face moved to clutch his nightshirt as he began to take faster, more shallow breaths.
He saw the ball, no it was just the end of his futon. Diving for it, trying to save the ball, keep the game going. He was sitting on a futon holding his shirt. Saw Tanaka too soon to stop and turned his head on instinct. He was alone. Felt a bright flash of pain as he- Hands on his cheeks brought him whooshing back to reality. He slowly began to regain his senses, though his panic didn't lessen.
He wasn't on the court, he was on a futon with a blanket messily laying over his lap. Someone's pajamaed knees were sitting in front of his crossed legs. His hands held those on his face and he felt the soft yet calloused hands of a volleyball player. Looking up, he saw that it was Suga. The silver-haired mama crow as people had begun to call him. Had Daichi caused him to wake up?
"Daichi, are you okay?" Suga's voice acted as an anchor. Daichi shook his head and Suga moved closer to his friend. "Should I wake someone up?" The captain again shook his head. "Okay, okay, I won't. Take a deep breath alright? Focus on me. You're going to be okay, for now just breathe." Daichi nodded and followed Suga's instructions, taking back control of his breathing and calming down his racing heart. "Good. Do you feel better now?"
"Yeah, thank you." He still had ahold of Suga's hands, though the setter pulled them away to move closer, sitting next to the captain. "Did I wake you up? I'm sorry." He turned a light red and looked down at his lap, guilt filling him. Had he woken him?
"No, I couldn't even hear you breathing. I'm not sure why I woke up, I do that sometimes. When you sat up that suddenly I thought I woke you up and you were gonna scold me but you kept flinching and your breathing was wrong so I put two and two together. What was it?" Suga asked.
Daichi was caught off guard by the question and answered honestly since he couldn't think of a lie fast enough. "I slammed into Tanaka again." He said. Suga stayed quiet, egging him to continue. "I relive it often but I never actually slam into him. Not until now. I don't get it."
"I think it could be a recurring thing for a reason. Do you know why?" Suga asked, putting one hand on the hand Daichi had resting closest to him. "It was a traumatic experience. You should talk to someone about it." He shook his head as Daichi turned his to argue. "Don't argue with me Sawamura. I'm no therapist so don't even try it. I do have the right to smack you." He wouldn't of course, but calling him by his given name made Daichi quiet again.
The two sat in silence for a while until Daichi yawned. "I'm going back to bed." He said, a bit fearful of what would happen when he did. Would he crash into Tanaka again? Wake someone up? Or would he kick someone in his sleep? He'd never moved much in his sleep but there was a first for everything, right?
Suga got an idea, seeing Daichi's wordless fear, and shoved his futon closer to Daichi's. "If you don't mind it, I can sleep right next to you. That way you can just hold my hand if you start to panic again. I don't mind it, really." Suga smiled at his friend.
"No, I guess I don't mind. Thank you." He watched as Suga remade his futon and sat down. "Hey, Koushi?" He said softly, seeing a short look of shock on the setter's face, much like how he probably looked.
"Yeah, Sawamura?" Suga smiled and put his legs under his blanket, looking at Daichi. Daichi took a moment to untangle his blankets as he thought of what to say, then laid down and saw Suga do the same.
"I just wanted to say thank you. For helping me I mean." Daichi said, looking at him.
"Of course! What are friends for, right?" Suga smiled tiredly and laid on his side, facing Daichi. Daichi smiled softly and put his hand over Suga's. The silver-haired boy took his hand and smiled, kissing his knuckles. "You'll be safe Sawamura. Goodnight."
"Goodnight Koushi." Daichi closed his eyes and fell asleep. His sleep stayed dreamless and a warm, comforting experience. He was glad to have Suga nearby.

Sugawara #2
~[Haikyuu!! Tribe AU] Mama and Papa Crow~
Of course I’m making Suga and Daichi the mom and dad of the crow tribe. It’s a no brainer lol. There are still a few things I’m figuring out that I will keep secret for now.
But Suga deals with the loss of Hinata, Kags and Tsukki not very well. Like at all. He becomes depressed and anxious, Daichi or someone has to keep a close eye on him. I did add a pearl necklace to him, something Daichi gave him.
Daichi is of course the leader (the mom and dad automatically becoming leader) he goes around with the others to find any leads on where the kids might be. He also has a couple of episodes of breaking down from losing the kids.
Their reaction for when they reunite with the kids is gonna be bloody insane and I’m excited to show that in time.
Hope you like it!!
Suga! This is what happens when I look back on some old drawings. I don’t have the guts to make any of the actual Haikyuu!! characters evil in this AU so I made up my own. I’ll add a background later.
