The Funny Drum Beats
I heard Strul, MaMa’s Barn and Marie’s “Het vind” and “Den sjunde vågen”. MaMa’s Barn was a fun little album, which made me wonder why did I not listen to with such care before (which was just once before). I didn’t listen to it with a lot of care today either, but I caught some part of it and it was likable. Marie’s first 3 solo albums are fantastic, “Efterstormen” being my favorite. I again thank God that Marie said “yes” when it came to working with Per Gessle for a risky project called “Roxette”. Marie’s work with Lasse Lindbom is good pop/rock. But then due to certain reasons, it would’ve been hard for them to work together for music and it would’ve also affected the quality. While listening to both “Het vind” and “Den sjunde vågen” - I noticed something pretty.... Cool. Both the albums start with a funny beat. When “Het vind” starts with the same title song, you suddenly feel like there is some error in the system and the CD has stuck in the player. A little bit is the experience with “Den sjunde vågen”s first song: Värdighet. The drum beats are barely 2 seconds, but it make you feel like something fell, or got stuck or something like that. Try it, you’re gonna enjoy those beats. Monday tomorrow. How did the weekend finish so quickly. It was Friday just a while back, wasn’t it? Anyway, have a beautiful week ahead. Through Back Saturday
I was actually worried on what would I write about tonight, when Gessle himself helped by posting things which are worth a small article. A while back, he shared 3 songs: - MaMas Barn - Allting flyter - Gyllene Tider - I Fought the Law/I Go to Pieces - Gyllene Tider - Needles and Pins OK, i’m pretty sure that I am not the only one who finds this super awesome. See, whenever Per shares anything which is related to Marie’s solo career or... literally any thing about Marie (Miss Effe), we would have a smile on our faces. MaMas Barn was actually Marie’s old band with a dude Martin Sternhufvud. It seems like Gessle has gone back in the early 80s tonight to cherish the old sound of some young Swedish legends. He also shared songs which have been performed by Gyllene Tider. Yes, “Performed” by, or written by. I wonder how many knew that: - I Go to Pieces is originally by Peter & Gordon - I Fought the Law is originally by Bobby Fuller - Needles and Pins is originally by Jackie DeShannon Honestly, I found out about it 2 years back when I heard the originals and got to know that GT covered them (and oh so well). I Go to Pieces reminds me so much of another GT song called “Break Another Heart”. Maybe they were recorded in the same GT era or maybe a heart breaks into pieces. I fought the Law is considered on of the best songs ever (by the rollings stones top 500 greatest songs ever), so I guess this shows that Gessle really has a state of the art choice in music *wink wink* No, Needles and Pins, this is a song which I guess got major recognization when The Searchers sang it (Another wow for 1964). But what makes it more special from a Gessle point of view is that it has also been covered by: - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Smokie - The Turtles - Ramones I mean if a song is covered by such bands and artists, don’t you think it is a little obvious that he will love this song? Anyway, thanks for a nice #TBS (through back Saturday) Mr. Gessle. Have a nice weekend everyone. Love and Peace 5/9/2015
