Kain, Traitorous Dragoon is only the fourth black Human Knight that costs 2{B}. They really should reprint Mercenary Knight.

Did you know Kain, Traitorous Dragoon is the second Legendary Creature from a set outside of Magic the Gathering to have a collector card number match the expansion set number? The first was Asmodeus the Archfiend from "Adventures in the Forgotten Realms".

Converted Mana Cost was changed to Mana Value in anticipation of the release of the Transformers cards, whose reminder text for More Than Meets The Eye needs to refer to a cost to cast them converted, and to avoid any confusion between mana costs of converted cards and converted mana costs. Since they already had too much text, the only solution they found was to change the magic terminology.

How do double faced cards work with devotion? I tried googling it but all the answers I got were from like 2013 and I know rulings about the Mana costs of DFCs have changed since then

The back face of a double-faced card has no mana cost. While it now has a converted mana cost equal to the converted mana cost of its front face, it still doesn’t have an actual mana cost and can’t provide any devotion.

Hiya there, I hope you're having a good day! We all know by now that transformed cards retain their cmc, but I was wondering if they also count for devotion. Does a Ravager of the Fells give me pips for Xenagod?

No.

A transformed or melded card has no mana cost, so it provides no devotion. It has a CMC now mostly to prevent shenanigans with cards like Displacement Wave or Ratchet Bomb

Can you clarify when X is 0 and when it's the chosen number for determining CMC?

Sure.

When the spell is on the stack, X has the chosen value.

When the card is in any other zone, (hand, battlefield, graveyard, library, exile, etc.) X is 0.

Do flip cards from Kamigawa still contribute to devotion once they've been turned?

Yes.

A flipped card still has its mana cost.

The new rules say a transformed cost still has the same converted mana cost but what is it's mana cost treated as for the purposes of devotion? (For example will liliana defiant necromancer give me more value out of grey merchant of apshodel?)

Yes, it’s weird to have a CMC but no mana cost, but we’re talking about DFCs, so they’re weird to start with.
