Managing through reality
If you have ankylosing spondylitis, there are many things you can do to ease your symptoms.
The Streak - Day 73 Yoga, run, cooking, chiro, administration, massage... puppy! Kinda best day ever!
The Streak - Day 77 The slowest most painful mile of the last 77 days. I woke up at 2am to half a foot of snow & a tumultuous day of travel. Got to San Juan by 2-ish, then walked to Walmart for supplies. My hip is in excruciating pain. The only time it doesn't hurt is when I run. Not seeing the chiro until April 3rd, & on the road almost the entire time until then. 😩 And yet, she persisted.
The Streak - Days 66 & 67: Back Home
So I’ve finally decided to go to a chiropractor for my hip and lower back pain. At this point my hip is stopping me from running farther and moving into certain positions in yoga.
I really, really do not want to go to a traditional doctor for this pain... I refuse to take painkillers... and I refuse to stop training.
I guess this is the reality of getting back into shape in your mid forties... I’m okay with that. My body has seen some action... a lot of action. She’s held up, and I want to honor her. Because I don’t get another one, and I want this one to last for 80 more years.
It’s a small army that supports me right now.
