Mandibular Reconstruction for Hemifacial Microsomia This 8 years and six months old boy was born with right-sided hemifacial microsomia. He has severe right-sided mandibular hypoplasia with a missing ramus and condyle. There was also microtia of the right ear. He underwent reconstruction of the ramus and condyle using costochondral grafts with intact growth centers harvested at the time of the surgery. Care was taken to ensure full protection of the facial nerve throughout the surgery. It was explained to his parents that he would need distraction osteogenesis of the reconstructed ramus for full cosmetic and rehabilitation at 15 years of age.
