Hemifacial Microsomia – Scarless Facial Asymmetry Correction with Distraction Osteogenesis This young woman developed hemifacial microsomia at a very early age with worsening asymmetry of the face. Her left facial deformity gradually increased over time. She also suffers from blindness of the left eye. The malocclusion from her hypoplastic left mandible made speech and eating difficult for her. A series of surgeries at a multispecialty hospital had been unsuccessful in addressing her complaints. Disillusioned by this, they had presented to an oral surgeon in their hometown. He had subsequently referred her to our hospital for management. Her parents presented with her to our hospital for management of her facial asymmetry. She underwent distraction osteogenesis with placement of a distractor device through an intraoral approach. A total of 18 mm of distraction was performed with establishment of good occlusion of her jaws. There was dramatic function and esthetic improvement following the surgery. She and her parents were completely satisfied with the surgical results by the time of final discharge from the hospital. 📞 Phone: +91 44 4294 7222 📬 Email: [email protected] 🌍 Website: www.smbalaji.com 📍 Location: Chennai, India #hemifacialmicrosomia #FacialAsymmetry #DistractionOsteogenesis #drsmbalaji #smbalaji #balajidental #maxillofacialsurgeon #maxillofacialsurgery #india #chennai #tamilnadu (at Balaji Dental and Craniofacial Hospital) https://www.instagram.com/p/CGkUKoxnyks/?igshid=pr5lqm4r1w4e
