Now that we're into the last few chapters of the A&E webcomic, are there any parts of the story that you wanted to do differently, or have done differently than the original? (It's be a while since I read the prose version)
I made a couple changes/improvements, but not many.
The WebComic version and the written version are about 95% identical. Besides a few extended scenes -- as well as having matured/re-done some bad dialogue -- it's mostly the same. I wanted it to be a faithful adaption, so I'm still planning on updating the OG written version to match. I've naturally improved a lot in terms of writing since 2018 when I started writing it.
1.) Made the characters more expressive/less static (more movement)
2.) Niner didn't originally have a five o'clock shadow in the written version. Every single 3D rendition I've seen of him with facial hair looked atrocious. When I 1st tried giving him facial hair around the time of CH14, it was as a joke, and not intended to be part of the WebComic. Then I managed to shape it in a way that genuinely looked good (...and I've never looked back since he now looks 'off' when clean-shaven -- the shape is so phcking important to make it work)
3.) Axton in CH6 was originally a random guy (...but I made his 3D model 'too hot' to be a one-off and thus made him one of Gav's exes instead, lol -- so he'll now appear briefly in a future work)
4.) Changed camera angles from what I envisioned in the written work
5.) Designed Niner's very own SWAT uniform instead of using the in-game one worn by Captain Allen (...bc it simply looks more appealing)
6.) Made Ti sound less like an obnoxious teenage girl (still working on that)
7.) Improved dialogue in general (like better describing how deviancy works in CH3 and CH5 as I really struggle to articulate complicated thoughts)
If I knew a way to work around it, I would erase Paws -- Gav's dog -- entirely. His existence is pure fan service as I was never on board with Gav having a pet bc of his extreme work-ethic. Unfortunately, he's the only reason why Gav was able to save Niner in CH8, and I couldn't come up with a different way to tackle that situation.
Those are the changes I can think of at the top of my head, but might be more.
