Ourense 2020
I found that stone in Llumeres’s beach and I decided to take it with me. I got really inspired so I decided to write the following text:
When I came across that stone I didn't think it would make me think so hard. We were walking on the beach when I saw her. It was one of many others, but as I got closer to it, its warm tones caught my attention more and more. I decided to take it and, from the first moment, I really liked its texture.
Smooth on one side and rough on the other, it was unlike any other that had passed through my hands before. While mom and I were discussing what it could be, a man gave us the answer:
- It looks like wood from behind -said my mother. - No! Can't you see that it's very hard and has colors? Although it's very rare... - Excuse me ladies, but that's a tile -said the man.
So that was it. A simple tile worn by the passage of time and the force of water. I stared at it for a long time, I began to imagine things and ask myself questions, whose answers I knew I would never find.
Where did that stone come from? How long had he been traveling in the brave Cantabrian sea? Where had it been installed? For what reason did its owners decided to abandon it? How many shoe soles trampled on her without mercy or consideration?
Maybe it came from some house, or maybe it was somewhere. Maybe it only moved along the Asturian coast, or maybe it went around the world. Perhaps its owners made the decision to reform their building, or at worst the construction was demolished or abandoned.
Who knows whether Manolo Blahnik, Converse, Asturian clogs or simply crappy shoes taken from any Sunday market passed through that floor. What is clear is that the stone was like me: at times sweet and at times rough. Sometimes colorful, sometimes grayish. Sometimes fun, sometimes boring.
And in the same way that the stone reached the shore of Llumeres, I arrived in Asturias looking for that feeling of success and satisfaction called happiness. That stone never had so much history.

I found a hole in one of the house’s walls of my favourite village. This photo was taken in Manzaneda, Asturias (Spain).
