Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says she's willing to risk a separation referendum in part to avert the emergence of a political rival.

I literally did not think I could get more cynical about Alberta politics, but even **I** am stunned at the shamelessness of this dollar-store MAGA asshole... Look at the fucking blind confidence with which she just says the quiet part loud and admits that she's pushing through a referendum (and I do mean pushing through) not to benefit her constituents, but only because she's afraid of losing her fucking party's majority position.

Bitch this is a goddamned REFERENDUM TO ABANDON THE CANADIAN CONFEDERATION, not approval for your next fucking $200k office carpet. What a transparently partisan move. You complete and utter clown. Seeking a mandate from voters is a campaign activity. It should not be paid for by taxpayer dollars, it should be paid for by your campaign fund. Which you should not have unless you are actively campaigning for an election that has been called.
