I mean WTF?! Marauders Fandom use to be less critical

“We Need to Talk About Marlene”

Sirius: [grinning, mouth full of toast] Evans! Here to steal my breakfast or my dignity?

Lily: [drops onto the bench beside him, arms folded] Neither. We need to talk about Marlene.

Sirius: [still smiling, but already cautious] If this is about the broom closet, I feel obligated to mention that technically, she pulled me in first.

Lily: [pointed look] Sirius.

Sirius: [sighs, straightens] Right. No jokes. Got it.

Lily: [softening just a bit] She’s my best friend.

Sirius: [nods, quieter now] I know.

Lily: She’s smart. She’s sharp. She’s got the best instincts of anyone I’ve ever met. And more heart than she lets people see.

Sirius: I know that too.

Lily: She’s not someone you toy with. Not someone you get bored of once the chase is over.

Sirius: [genuine] I wouldn’t. I couldn’t.

Lily: [carefully] She plays it cool, but if you hurt her, Sirius… she’ll never let you see it. She’ll just build a wall and pretend none of it mattered. And you’ll never get back in.

Sirius: [quiet for a beat] She’s not a fling, Lils. Not even close.”

Lily: [watching him carefully now] Then what is she?

Sirius: [runs a hand through his hair, no dramatics this time] She’s… the first person who sees me exactly as I am, and somehow doesn’t run. But still expects more from me. And for some reason… I want to live up to that.

Lily: [soft breath] Godric. You’re actually serious.

Sirius: [grins] Took you long enough.

Lily: [trying not to smile, failing] I swear to Merlin, if you screw this up, I will hex you into next year. Possibly into the next dimension.

Sirius: Noted. And… fair.

Lily: [rises, brushing crumbs off her skirt] You know, I’m still annoyed both of you didn’t tell me this before.

Sirius: I thought you’d go full Protective Mode.

Lily: Oh, I’m still going full Protective Mode. I just would’ve liked to be invited in sooner.

Sirius: [grinning] Next time I fall headfirst into emotional vulnerability, you’ll be the first to know.

Lily: Better be.

Sirius: And you don’t actually hate me, right?

Lily: [walking away with a smirk] Don’t push it.

Sirius: [calling after her] Marlene does enough liking for both of you anyway!

Lily: [without turning] She does have questionable taste.

Sirius: She’s dating me, not James Potter!

Lily: Exactly my point!

OTP’s from Marauders Era  pt. I

Since J.K didn’t write much about the school days of Harry’s parents that leave a lot to the imagination. Today we’ll talk about the couples that (could have) happened in marauders era. We will analyze the couples that are canon, the ones that aren’t canon and, most important, the ones we speculated that have happened.

James Potter and Lily Evans (jily): First things first, let’s talk about the couple responsible for Harry’s existence. James and Lily weren’t close during their initial Hogwarts years, but the circumstances changed when James stopped hex and bully other people. They became friends in their final years and in the 7th year they were officially a couple.

Frank Longbottom and Alice (fralice): We don’t have much information about this two (we don’t even know Alice’s last name), but in the fanfictions, they’re usually described as a sweet and very cute couple and generally with Frank being older than Alice.

Ted Tonks and Andromeda Black (tedromeda): Another canon ship, often forgotten, are the parents of Nymphadora Tonks. We don’t know much about this couple either, but we know that Andromeda was a Slytherin and she was erased from the Black Family) Tree (just like Sirius and Ted was a muggle-born from Hufflepuff (just like his daughter).

Sirius Black and Remus Lupin (wolfstar): One of the most famous non-canon ships in the Marauders’ era. In the fanfictional world, they’re describe as Sirius being easygoing and troublemaker and Remus being shy and the one that tries to not break all the rules. Unfortunately, J.K had write in Pottermore that Nymphadora was the first person that Remus fall in love with, therefore making any speculation about a deep relationship between the two marauders impossible.

Sirius Black and Marlene McKinnon (blackinnon): A famous pair with Sirius is the brunette (if you follow the book)/blonde (if you follow the movies) Marlene. Although we do not know if McKinnon is her maiden name in the fanfictions it is assumed that it was. The couple is often described as troublemakers and against relationships. This pairing appeared after the scene that Sirius show the McKinnon girl to Harry in one of the Order’s old photo.

Severus Snape and Lily Evans (snily): This couple is based on the long-term friendship between them. Fanfictions with this couple can be about their first years in Hogwarts and ending in their 5th year when Snape calls Lily mud blood, or the stories continue ignoring that and make snily the main couple rather than jily.

Remus Lupin and Dorcas Meadows (doremus): Not the most usual couple in the fanfictional world, but when it appears the relationship is trick due to Remus’ insecurities about his lycanthropy and because Doe is often described as a delicate and shy girl. Since J.K affirmed that Nymphadora was Remus first love we can discard this couple of the canon world.
