I’ve been away from the Marauders Fandom for so long that now I’m discovering that ship Blackinnon is basically a crime..?

I mean WTF?! Marauders Fandom use to be less critical

Fabian: Well, I sort of want some advice

Sirius: Ok I will allow it, say it

Fabian: I don’t know if the girl I’m… uh… let’s say, interested in, likes me.

Sirius: Does she talk to you?

Fabian: Yes.

Sirius: Does she talk to you outside of class or without it just being out of politeness?

Fabian: …

Sirius: I’ll take that as a no.

Fabian: I didn’t say that!

Sirius: Anyway… describe the girl.

Fabian: She’s beautiful, blonde, a Gryffindor, a Chaser on the Quidditch team, has a gorgeous smile, and…

Sirius: …

Fabian: And lips that…

Sirius: STOP! STOP!

Fabian: What?

Sirius: There are thousands of girls at Hogwarts and…

Sirius: And maybe you could do me the favor of not getting all sentimental talking about my girl!

Sirius: MARLS, FROM NOW ON, WE’RE DATING.

Sirius: Was that a yes?

TUMBLR, WE NEED TO TALK.

Apparently, a lot of people around here need a refresher on what canon actually means.

Not your headcanons. Not your fanon. Not your emotionally-supportive PowerPoint presentations.

Canon.

I’m all for shipping whoever you want — gods know I do (hello, Dramione and Blackinnon, my beloved disasters). I’m not here to ship-police.

But we’ve entered this bizarre alternate universe where people are seriously insisting Jegulus and Wolfstar are canon. And not in the “ugh, obviously it should have been canon” way. I mean in the full-blown, I-read-the-books-and-this-was-in-them kind of delusion.

So let me be very clear:

Canon = What actually happened in the original source material.

Not vibes. Not theories. Not “but it makes sense if you squint and ignore 80% of the timeline.”

If James and Regulus didn’t make out behind the Quidditch pitch in canon, then it’s not canon. If Sirius and Remus did not make out in the library in canon, then it’s not canon. It’s fanon. It’s headcanon. It’s transformative. And that’s OKAY.

In fact, that’s the whole beauty of fandom.

We get to take the source and say, “What if?”

“What if Hermione fell for Draco?”

“What if Marlene lived and chose Sirius?”

“What if Regulus loved James in secret, and it broke him?”

We make art. We write fics. We build entire emotional landscapes out of crumbs and possibilities.

But let’s not confuse the source with the sauce.

Ship what you love. Defend your faves. Write epic essays and emotional sagas.

But don’t call YOUR headcanon, the actual canon (no matter how many people believe it to be canon) and then get mad when someone points out the difference.

me: I have 12 WIPs (4 of them posted). Twelve. Full-length emotional commitments rotting in Google Docs. Characters in narrative purgatory. Plot threads scattered like confetti.

also me: what if I wrote a Blackinnon fic inspired by “Figure You Out” by VOILÀ—

you know, that song. The one where the guy’s quietly seething because the girl he knows better than anyone is dating someone who keeps getting her completely wrong?? And the whole time he’s thinking “I could love you with my eyes closed, kiss you with a blindfold, figure you out…”

And then it’s Sirius losing his mind over Marlene dating Fabian Prewett, who brings her roses (she’s allergic), takes her to jazz concerts (she hates them), and talks about their future with cats and a flat in London—while Sirius is watching like “you like stormy weather and loud music and scaring boys in duels”.

Cue:

• Seventh year tension

• Situationships

• Jealousy and snark

• Heated broom cupboard scenes

• A lot of arguing

• Sirius accidentally being in love

• And Lily banging on the door yelling while James is just happy they finally kissed

Okay, hear me out… Blackinnon. When Lily wrote that letter mentioning the McKinnons, what she didn't know was that Sirius and Marlene had been secretly dating. They always had an attraction to one another and hooked up a few times during Hogwarts. Then they had a fling during one of their missions and started to actually fall for one another after they were paired up. Sirius was supposed to be at her house that day to meet her parents but got stuck on a mission. After she died, he fell into a depression, which was why he rarely came around to the Potters. Seeing them happy made him realise what he could have had and lost 💔

I already love the Doomed by the Narrative aspect of Blackinnon, you didn’t need to stab me in the heart and let me bleed all over the floor 😢
