Create these lovely marbled Valentine's Day cookies with a delightful combination of colors and a hint of sweetness. Ideal for sharing with family and friends!
Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder. 1/4 teaspoon salt. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened. 3/4 cup granulated sugar. 1 large egg. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Red food coloring. Valentine's Day themed sprinkles.
Instructions: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a dough forms. Divide the dough into two portions. Add red food coloring to one portion and knead until the color is uniform. Shape small portions of each dough into marble-sized balls. Gently press together one ball of each color and roll into a single larger ball. Flatten the ball slightly and place Valentine's Day themed sprinkles on top. Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Preheat the oven to 350F 175C. Chill the cookies in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes. Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
