Marc “Mr. Anti-Vax” Bernier of WNDB in Florida, died Saturday, 08/28/2021.

He was preceded eight days earlier by Phil Valentine, a 61-year-old conservative talk radio host in Tennessee who mocked coronavirus vaccines but changed his tone after getting sick. He battled the disease for a month.

Also having a change of heart, before his stopped, was Dick Farrel, a former Newsmax commentator and all-around coronavirus-denying, vaccine-resistant right-wing radio talk show host. The South Florida radio host died of COVID-19 complications on Aug. 6, at age 65, after exhorting fans not to get the vaccine, calling the entire coronavirus crisis a “scam-demic.”

Both Farrel and Valentine urged friends and followers to get the vaccine as the disease closed in on them and said they regretted not doing it themselves.

3rd conservative radio host who condemned vaccines dies of Covid

Marc Bernier was a mainstay on talk radio in Daytona.

Conservative radio host Dick Farrel was unvaccinated and strongly condemned the coronavirus vaccine. On July 3, for example, he posted on Facebook: "why take a vax promoted by people who lied 2u all along about masks, where the virus came from and the death toll?" He also called coronavirus a "scam-demic" and labeled Dr. Anthony Fauci a "power-tripping lying freak."

But then Farrel contracted COVID-19 himself. While battling the virus, he changed his stance on the vaccine, saying: "I wish I had gotten it!" But he hadn't, and the virus killed him on August 4.

Conservative radio host Phil Valentine was unvaccinated and vehemently opposed the coronavirus vaccine, because Freedom.

"The people who instinctively believe that the government is the solution to everything are already talking vaccination mandates. This should be a personal choice. ... I'm not an anti-vaxxer. I'm just using common sense. What are my odds of getting COVID? They're pretty low. What are my odds of dying from COVID if I do get it? Probably way less than one percent. I'm doing what everyone should do and that’s my own personal health risk assessment. ... If you're not at high risk of dying from COVID then you're probably safer not getting it. ... There is no way a child should be getting this vaccination. ... People get the cold and flu every cold and flu season. We don't shut down the country for it, although maybe now we do. Maybe we've reached the new normal where the government tells you every move to make. Not me. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm going back to America."

On June 21, Valentine released a song parody (called "Vaxman") mocking the vaccine. But then he contracted COVID-19 himself. While battling the virus, he changed his stance on the vaccine, releasing a statement for his listeners from the hospital:

"Phil would like for his listeners to know that while he has never been an 'anti-vaxer' he regrets not being more vehemently 'Pro-Vaccine', and looks forward to being able to more vigorously advocate that position as soon as he is back on their air."

The virus had other plans. It killed him on August 21.

Conservative radio host Marc Bernier was unvaccinated and an outspoken opponent of the coronavirus vaccine. When asked whether he would be getting the vaccine, his reply was: "I'm not taking it. ... Are you kidding me? Mr. Anti-Vax? Jeepers." On July 30, in response to a tweet urging people to get vaccinated, he tweeted: "Now the US Government is acting like Nazi's [sic]."

That was Bernier's last tweet before he contracted COVID-19 himself. The virus killed him on August 28.

Right-Wing Radio's 'Mr. Anti-Vax' Dies Of Coronavirus

His final tweet compared the vaccination effort to Nazism.

A conservative radio host in Florida who was openly opposed to the coronavirus vaccine has died of the COVID-19 infection after a three-week battle with the disease.

Marc Bernier’s final tweet, sent July 30, compared the vaccination and virus mitigation efforts to Nazi Germany.

Radio station WNDB ― News Daytona Beach ― confirmed the news on Twitter on Saturday.

He was 65.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal noted a broadcast in December in which Bernier announced he wasn’t getting the vaccine.

“Come on!” replied co-host Justin Gates.

Bernier fired back: “Are you kidding me? Mr. Anti-Vax? Jeepers.”

“Ever?” asked Gates.

“No,” Bernier said.
