In honor of his 188th birthday, we will be celebrating our favorite cat loving author, Mark Twain, all day today.
Samuel Langhorn Clemens, known best by his pen name, Mark Twain (Nov. 30, 1835 - April 21, 1910), was born in Florida, Missouri, the sixth of seven kids. When Twain was 4, his family moved to Hannibal, Missouri, which would serve as the backdrop for Twain’s most famous books.
Many are familiar with these works, ‘Huckleberry Finn’ and ‘Tom Sawyer,’ but did mew know that Mark Twain is credited with being America’s 1st stand up comedian? He would conduct lecture tours, which is what we know now in modern times as a stand-up show. Whenever Twain would travel for these tours, he’d rent cats because he couldn’t travel with his own.
Twain biographer, Albert Bigelow Paine, was with Twain one summer when he rented three kittens. He named one Sackcloth, and the other two, being identical, he gave the joint name of Ashes. After Twain would finish one of his tours, he’d leave behind money to help cover their care for the rest of all nine of their lives. It is estimated that Twain paid for the lifetime care of dozens of cats throughout his career.

4/5: I knew the story but I loved rereading it trough this manga because there is nothing better than "Tom, Huck and Jim", it took me back to my childhood and the adventures hidden in a Twain's book! Conoscevo la storia ma mi é piaciuto molto rileggerla perché non c'è niente di meglio di "Tom, Huck e Jim", che mi hanno riportato, con le loro avventure, alla mia infanzia!
