„Casey!” Marcus shouted through closed doors to his daughter’s room. „Casey, open that damned door! I swear I’m going to force the doors any moment!” Marcus Kane didn’t know how to handle the situation with his daughter. He tried everything - or at least that’s what he’s been saying. He never tried explaining the whole situation to Casey though. „What?” Barked Casey when she opened the door. She didn’t even look his father in the eyes. „Your mother made a dinner” announced Kane, disappointed. „I’m not hungry” Casey tried to close the door but Marcus immediately stopped her. „You will get out of that room and eat the dinner with your family because your mother worked hard and Abby’s going to come with Clarke.” „We’re not family, Sir” „Casey, stop it already! Dress up and come to the dining room. From tomorrow you’re going to have a guard keeping an eye on you. I can’t be getting you out of trouble anymore. You could’ve been put in jail a long time ago if it wasn’t for my intervention. Behave, Casey! Stop acting like a child you no longer are!” „I’ll stop when grandma comes back” said Casey dead serious, looking her father deep in the eyes for the first time today. „Oh, wait, she cant. Because you killed her!” And with that she closed the door with all the force she had. She then sat down on the floor with her back to the door and cried silently. She used to do that quite a lot since her grandma died. Casey didn’t like to show her emotions on the outside, especially to her father. She preferred to keep them locked deep down. She wanted to be perceived as strong and independent when in reality she was vulnerable and hurt. Casey Kane felt lonely, abandoned in some kind of way. She realized long time ago that Cristina Kane was fully aware of the possible consequences of her actions but she did it anyway, repeatedly. Casey, Marcus, Louisa - they all knew that Cristina was stealing medications but they kept it a secret. Louisa Kane was ill at that time and the amounts of medication she received wasn’t enough. That’s why Cristina had been stealing it - to help her daughter-in-law get well. Because Cristina Kane was a nurse she had a better access to meds. She loved her grandmother more than anyone else on the entire Ark. Cristina Kane was Casey’s best friend, a keeper of her secrets and the best advisor. She was the first one to whom Casey would come when she had a problem. Cristina and Casey liked to sit together with a cup of hot chocolate and simply talk about their day. Casey trusted three more people then - Clarke Griffin, Wells Jaha and lass Sorenson. Naturally, she told them about her grandma’s actions because she admired her courage and the will to help. Clarke told them then about her father’s research project on the level of air on the Ark. And that was their biggest mistake. Few days later Mr. Griffin was floated and a week after that Cristina Kane shared his fate. Casey and Clarke blamed Wells for that since he claimed that he told his father about Mr. Griffin and Grandma Kane. Glass sided with Wells and that’s how their little group separated. Casey felt guilty for telling Wells about her grandma. She thought she betrayed Cristina and she could never forgive herself for that. Casey couldn’t stop thinking that she killed her beloved grandma but at the same time she hated her father for not doing anything to protect Cristina. She was his mother after all! Casey Kane felt guilty but she also felt betrayed by Cristina since she knew how this might have ended. Right now Marcus Kane was doing his best to get his daughter out of trouble but he couldn’t do the same for his own mother. „Casey!” Shouted Louisa weakly. She still had some health problems but she tried to stay positive for her family. Louisa needed daily medical help. She visited Abby Griffin everyday but still she wasn’t receiving enough meds since the supplies on the Ark were getting smaller and smaller. It didn’t matter that she was vice-chancellor wife. „Clarke is here!” Casey dressed herself nicely as her father wished. She sat down at the table beside Clarke. Both of them didn’t want to be there but their parents made them and the needed to obey their will. Clarke squeezed Casey’s hand under the table. „We’re gonna survive it” Clarke assured her friends. „At least we’re here together” Casey smiled weakly and squeezed Clarke’s hand, too. But when Abby, Louisa and Marcus sat down they didn’t start the dinner which confused Clarke and Casey since they wanted to get out from there already. „Are we waiting for someone?” Asked Clarke and after her question the doorbell rang. Louisa hurried to open the door and came back with chancellor Jaha and his son. Clarke grabbed Casey’s hand again to help her calm down. Kane looked as if someone had slapped her on the cheek. And what made things even worse was the fact that Wells Jaha sat down on the spot which was usually occupied by Cristina Kane. The dinner went on and Casey hadn’t said any single word, not even when she was asked about something personally. „Casey, are you feeling under the weather today?” Asked chancellor humorously. „You didn’t say any single word yet. You’re usually a chatterbox” „Can I go now?” Asked Casey and without waiting for a response she headed down to her room. She closed the door and didn’t answer to anyone who tried knocking. Not even worried as hell Clarke.
