MARIDEON–
Shit, Gideon thought to himself as he was falling asleep (in Marlene’s bed, for the third night in a row). I love this girl.
He woke up before Marlene did, and as Gideon swung his legs around the side of the bed and rubbed the sleep from his eyes, he glanced at the blonde girl sleeping on the other side of the bed. Her hair was spread across the pillow and she looked pretty damn serene, not like she could kill a man with her bare hands. Yep. He was officially in love with her.
Gid got dressed and slipped out of her flat to go for a morning run. This was an odd feeling for him. He was completely and totally okay with this revelation. Normally when he’d been hanging out with a girl for a while and he started to realize that things were getting serious, his brain went frantically into excuse making mode. Gideon wasn’t really a commitment kind of guy. He wasn’t in a job that allowed for him to promise someone that he’d come home safe at the end of the day, and any girl who said she was okay with that was kidding herself.
But Mar … They’d known each other a long time, and they did the same job, and things were going really well between them. He didn’t want to jinx it. And still, as Gideon ran, he circled right back around to her place, and he still didn’t feel the oncoming panic of commitment.
Gideon entered the kitchen, panting slightly, to see Marlene fixing something quick for breakfast. She was wearing a t-shirt and a pair of short shorts. She raised an eyebrow. “Did Dorian wake you up again?” she asked. For some reason Marlene’s cat considered Gideon to be the most comfortable sleeping place, which was a little annoying at times, but for the most part he didn’t mind it.
“Nope,” he replied. “Actually, I’ve made a discovery.”
Marlene popped a bit of toast in her mouth. “And what’s that?”
“I love you.” He placed a quick kiss on her nose and stepped back to gauge her reaction.
She smiled. “That’s a pretty worthwhile discovery,” she replied. “I think we should celebrate.” She pulled him back in by the fabric of his shirt and they kissed for real. Breakfast now forgotten, Gideon had never felt so anchored.
LUCAS/OLIVIA–
Two mugs of hot chocolate rested on the table beside stacks of parchment and a few textbooks. A Monster Book of Monsters quivered in a slightly off-putting way in its own corner of the table. Snow was falling outside, fat flakes sticking to the windowsills before they melted away. Finals were upon them, but the winter holiday was fast approaching and giving all the students motivation to carry on.
Lucas and Olivia were sitting side by side, each working on individual assignments. He had a two foot long charms essay that needed to be finished by the next morning, and Olivia was looking up practical uses of a bunch of obscure plants for Herbology and taking notes.
They hadn’t spoken in forty minutes, both so engrossed in their tasks. Lucas took a quick break to take a sip of hot chocolate and flex his hand so it wouldn’t cramp while he continued writing. He glanced over at Olivia. He had an urge to reach out and tuck a piece of curly blonde hair back behind her ear, but he didn’t move. In the glowing, soft light of the library she looked ethereal, beautiful, amazing. He couldn’t help but stare. If he breathed too hard or moved an inch he might ruin the whole thing. He wondered if this was what love felt like.
Olivia wrinkled her nose, like she did sometimes when she was concentrating, and when she did so, she saw him staring. “What?” she asked. “Do I have something on my face?”
Snapping out of his reverie, Lucas shook his head. “No, you’re good. I was just . . . spacing off, Charms is, uh, super boring.”
Olivia quirked a half smile. “You got that right. I’m ready for this term to be over.” She reached for her mug and took a swig, and he could almost see the warmth flowing into her. She rolled her neck and then dove back into the assignment she was working on.
Lucas turned back to his work as well, but he still wondered what he had seen and felt. Olivia was his best friend. He couldn’t be in love with her, could he?

☎ - Marideon (she would probably have a cute pic of the two of them)
☎ for my muses reaction to seeing them as your muses phone wallpaper.
Marlene was in the bathroom. Gideon waited in the green upholstered booth at their favorite diner, perusing the menu, though he knew what he wanted, and their regular waitress knew that.
Gideon’s girlfriend wasn’t the type of girl who took ages in the bathroom, but still, he was bored without her to chat with, and Gideon was just the type of person that needed something to amuse him, or he’d find his own form of amusement. He looked around maybe for an extra straw laying about that he could use to shoot the wrapper at someone, or a packet of sugar to dump on the table and start drawing something with the little crystals.
But his eyes lighted on something much better- Marlene’s cell phone. Surely she knew better than to just leave that on the table? Obviously not. A smirk crossed his lips as he reached for the phone. He was going to open her camera, because that didn’t require him to put in her password (which she had not entrusted him with), and take some really silly selfies for her to stumble across at some random point in the future.
He pressed the home screen and her phone screen lit up, but he didn’t swipe to open the camera. His own face was staring up at him which, frankly, was surprising. Marlene wasn’t as sentimental as a lot of other girls. This was kind of a big deal.
The photo was from a few weeks ago, when they’d gone on a double date with Fabian and his girlfriend, some girl Molly set him up with. They’d gone for ice cream sundaes for dessert. Fabian had taken the picture and sent it round in a group text- Gideon had it saved somewhere in his messages. Gideon had performed a much loved trick where he balanced the bowl of the spoon on his nose, so he looked as goofy as ever, and slightly cross-eyed. Marlene was mid laugh, holding a spoonful of ice cream that was about to drip onto the table. It was really cute, and Marlene looked so happy.
“What are you doing?” Marlene asked as she slid back into the booth opposite the redhead.
Gideon held up her phone, his smile glowing with a note of triumph. “You’re adorable.”
Marlene snatched her phone back, but she was smiling too, and blushing a bit! “Shut up,” she muttered. But she reached across the table and held his hand. “You’re lucky I like your dumb face.”
"I need to buy a pregnancy test." + Marideon
@muse--minded this got way out of hands
“I’msorry, what?” Gideon blinked rather shocked. They had talked about having kidssomewhere in the future, they both came from large families and the idea offorming a family of their own was a nice idea.
Marleneswallowed with difficulty and looked down at her dog that jumped off the couchso she could get some attention. “I uh… I said I need to buy a pregnancy test”she said carefully, crouching down so she could focus on Hazel, the large andfluffy Bernese Mountain dog that was whining for some attention.
“Apregnancy test?” He repeated, straightening up since her was spread all overher couch with a bottle of butter beer in his hand. “For you?” He asked, placing the bottle on the coffee table but still not able to get up from thecouch.
Well, of course, for who else?Marlene gave him a look that reflected that.
“Yes, Gideon, for myself” she saidas if that was obvious, but still not meeting his eyes, she was too nervous. What if she was pregnant? Was sheeven ready for this? To be a mother? To raise a child? What if she fucked it upbadly?
“Right”he said and stood up, summoning Hazel’s leash.
“Whatare you doing?” She asked suspiciously, narrowing her eyes as the dog left herside so Gideon could attach the leash to her collar.
Hegrinned at the dog and scratched behind her ears before standing up, holdingthe leash in his hand. “I’m going with you” he said, sounding surprisingly calmeven though he was freaking out inside, just like Marlene.
“Youdon’t have to – okay, yeah, let’s go” she sighed and stood up again, rubbingher hand over her face. Marlene felt Gideon draping his arm over her shouldersand pulled her closer, pressing a kiss on the side of her head.
