I can’t begin to tell you how proud I am of this young man. My nephew graduated from Marines boot camp today, an accomplishment not everyone can do. I spent the week at Parris Island in SC learning about the history of the Marines, how each recruit is challenged, and the forever-lasting bond each recruit receives with the U.S. Marine Corps and each other. I watched recruits training, met officers and sergeant-majors, marveled at the graduation ceremony, and saw the yellow shoe prints and steel doors, the first steps to leaving their civilian lives behind. Most of all, I witnessed the growth of a boy who became a man. You’ve made your parents, friends, and family proud, Joe Celeste. I’m so happy I was able to share in this first stage of your journey, and I look forward to following you in many more.
