On the 9th of April, in 1718, near the Bay of Honduras, close to present day Roatan, Blackbeard’s fleet destroyed the ship Protestant Caesar as an act of revenge against Boston; for their known executions of pirates.
Near the bay of Honduras, Blackbeard and his fleet captured several merchant sloops and a large ship named the Protestant Caesar. They had exchanged several volleys of cannon fire over the course of hours, until Captain Wyer of the Protestant Caesar realized his vessel was unable to escape.
Blackbeard kept one sloop, however, he declared the other sloop and the Protestant Caesar to be burned, as they were from Boston. He did so, as he had held a grudge against Boston, due to their reputation of hanging pirates.
