What an unforgettable weekend! The “Radio Olympics” have officially drawn to a close and we are still buzzing from the sheer energy, camaraderie and world-class operating on display at WRTC 2026.
First and foremost, a massive congratulations to the overall winners and returning champions: Yuri (VE3DZ) and Yarik (UW7LL)! Pushing through the gruelling 24-hour marathon to defend their title with an outstanding final score of 7,460,840 points is nothing short of legendary. Hats off to you both on a spectacular victory!
As a proud partner of the event, Icom was thrilled to support the next generation of contesting talent and help reward the incredible efforts of the organisers and competitors:
• The future of contesting is in safe hands! Huge congratulations to Youth Team 2, operated by Kees (W0AAE) and Connor (W4IPC), who took home the award for the highest-placed Youth Team! To help them on their journey, they each won a brand-new Icom IC-7300MK2, proudly sponsored by Icom.
• We were incredibly honoured to receive an award for Icom’s significant contribution to the event. Here is WRTC Chairman Mark Haynes presenting the award to Ray Novak (N9JA) and our very own Chris Colclough (G1VDP).
• Huge congratulations to M0LCM, the lucky winner of the WRTC 2026 raffle, who walked away with a brand-new Icom IC-7300MK2!
