Kinktober Day 1 - Masturbation

Technically October yet for me, but I was too excited, so here it is a couple hours early!

Hot Take: Kate Marsh deserved more than to befriend her abuser/someone who encouraged her suicide. People often forget that Victoria heavily encourages Kate’s suicide and even says something like “I can’t wait for you to slit your wrists” and not to mention Victoria was the whole cause of the video being uploaded. She was the one recording her doing so and not to mention no one talks about the fact Kate could’ve been possibly raped (not by Nathan or Jeffershit.) but because she’s making out with all these boys they probably assumed she was dtf. Which means that Victoria just let a possible rape and or kidnapping happen after she was drugged, which is why I somewhat and harsh on her and can’t imagine her and Kate being together unless an au happens but most people brush over this. I love Kate as a character, she’s super duper sweet and it’s like everyone is against her or out to get her, Victoria, The School, David, etc. I feel that they could’ve written her dealing with her trauma in a much better way than befriending the person who basically caused her suicide and I feel they didn’t go that deep into her in a way that it wouldn’t just happen overnight. Kate would suffer with depression, even self-harm, starving herself, avoiding friends, etc. I also blame the fucking school for simply not caring about Kate Marsh, they didn’t care until she was willing to take her life but even then half the fucking students had cell phones out recording it. Nobody cared about Kate Marsh outside of Max and Warren. Victoria didn’t care about her until she realized I could go to jail for this, she didn’t care until she was in a fucking hospital bed. I wish that you could choose whether Victoria could be forgiven or whether she shouldn’t. The principal didn’t care until she made a scene, until she was moments away from fucking ending herself, no one cared outside of Max and Warren. Victoria encouraged the behavior of bullying her, she doesn’t stop or we never see her hesitate or even just fucking leave her alone for one moment, she picks on her every chance she gets. I wish you could’ve fucking told her off or even brought up Victoria outside of Jeffershit, Nathan, and David. She recorded and filmed a drunk and drugged girl making out and possibly getting sexually assaulted then kidnapped, she proceeded to bully the girl and doesn’t stop until she’s in a fucking hospital bed. Victoria Chase is held too high by the fandom imo, she needs to be held accountable for her actions and people need to see she’s not just a misunderstood mean girl, hell she sounds even worse than Regina George. Makes her seem like an angel in comparison. I feel the game also didn’t see Kate Marsh as more than just suicide or sad christian girl, in a way they don’t understand how bad her trauma can be. They did the same thing with Chloe, she has a lot of trauma but yet they want you to sympathize with her abusers such as David and Joyce. They fucking force David and Chloe to be bestfriends when he caused most of her trauma, her hate towards men, her need for fucking guns, drugs, running away from home. DontNod has a lot of problems with Life Is Strange, I love the game, I just can’t accept the fact they don’t take these characters seriously or their trauma seriously enough to have them make up with their abusers. Chloe is a drug-addicted, bitter, emotional, traumatized woman because of her guardians, because of her parents not being decent enough fucking parents. Kate is the same side of that coin, she was abused and mistreated by everyone, by her family, by the school, she has little to no friends and her life was terrible. I wish there was a scene of Kate losing her shit at Victoria or if you choose to not accept Victoria’s apology then she calls her out on her bullshit and tells her to leave. Either way, Victoria changes but stop belittling these women’s trauma DontNod and making them forgive their abusers for how they have treated them and abused them. You did it with fucking Sean and his mother but you didn’t do it for those who really deserved no forgiveness. Victoria and David don’t deserve to be in their victims lives still, they don’t deserve them at all. Hold Victoria Chase accountable for her actions of causing a suicide, bullying, and stop sugarcoating the relationship she had with Kate. She straight up abused her and emotionally destroyed her, no one bothered to stop her and everyone in that damn school was the reason she was up on the roof. Victoria isn’t that great of person and should’ve been written better if they wanted sympathy from us. I bet you everything I’ve ever written that if Warren, Finn, or Sean did any of this bullshit you guys would be destroying them, having fucking hate pages out for them. One of the biggest problem in this fandom is that you guys uphold these women and fail to see their flaws but point out every flaw and every bad thing their male counterparts have done. It needs to stop.

Chasemarsh Monday fanfic recommendation: Victoria Chase Has No Heart (Kate Marsh Stole It Away) by ktao3

Summary: Victoria Chase and Kate Marsh (improbably[?]) become friends and fall in love after a post-noncanon Life Is Strange ending (a hospital ending, where Max goes back, gets shot to save Chloe, and everyone lives). Short chapters about the ups and downs of this relationship till I'm satisfied . . . but we'll end on the fluff-y side.

My Take: An incredibly wholesome and fluffy take on the Chasemarsh relationship, this fic begins with Victoria and Kate reconnecting after more than half a year spent apart, then takes back to the beginning to show how their love was built piece by piece. This one is an absolute classic of the Chasemarsh community, and it clearly served as inspiration for many of the lovely fics it preceded. And with one of the best titles in the entire fandom, honestly what's not to love?

okay now (a “life is strange” fanfic)

Kate looked up from her reading to find Victoria glaring at her, an intense look on her face. It didn’t bother Kate too much though, not anymore - she had realized long ago that that look meant that her girlfriend was merely in deep thought, rather than her actually being angry. In spite of knowing that, however, Kate’s voice still came out cautious as she asked, “Victoria? Are you okay?”

Immediately, the awful expression was wiped from Victoria’s face as she rose an eyebrow at Kate. “Yeah. Why?”

“You were…” Kate gestured to her face, before saying, “giving me that look again.”

“I was?” Victoria sounded startled, somewhat embarrassed, before she gave Kate a small smile. “Sorry, I hadn’t noticed.”

“Is something…bothering you?” Kate asked. Another thing that Kate had learned over the years of knowing Victoria was that beating around the bush when you wanted to ask her something did no good…if anything, doing that only served to frustrate her.

Victoria hesitated, her eyebrows furrowing once more, as she appeared to have some sort of internal debate over whether she wanted to talk about the issue currently plaguing her mind or not. Right as Kate was about to speak again to try and provide some support for her, Victoria suddenly burst out, “I don’t understand it!”

Kate blinked, startled. “You don’t understand what?”

Victoria ran a hand through her short hair, messing it up slightly - she must truly be distressed, to willingly put her perfect hair out of order. Kate’s musings were abruptly interrupted when Victoria suddenly said, “How you can be with me and still be…you know…”

Kate blinked in confusion, before Victoria gestured to the old leather-bound book resting in Kate’s lap. She glanced down briefly, running her fingertips over her worn copy of the Bible, before it dawned on her. Looking back up at Victoria (who was now refusing to meet her eyes, mind you), Kate elaborated, “You don’t understand how I can be gay and also be a Christian…right?”

Victoria groaned, hiding her face. “Just…forget I asked. It was stupid of me to bring it up-“

“N-no, it wasn’t stupid at all!” Kate said quickly, before regaining her composure. “I completely understand your confusion. When it comes to those sorts of things, there’s always confusion - on both ends.”

Victoria looked at Kate through her fingers, waiting for her to explain. Kate sighed, looking up at the ceiling. “I used to struggle with those sorts of thoughts all the time. Things were especially bad when I started attending Blackwell. I felt so…lost. And confused. I think a lot of that was a big contributor to my depression, on top of all the other things…”

Victoria stood up, moving across the room to sit by Kate abruptly, laying a comforting hand on her shoulder and giving her a guilty look. “I’m so sorry…I had no idea…”

Kate waved her hand. “It’s all in the past now, isn’t it? Forgive and forget, as they always say.” Victoria still looked very guilty, and Kate honestly couldn’t blame her - Victoria had been a horrible bully to Kate for the first part of the year at Blackwell, adding onto the already mountainous pile of stresses. But things were different now. “Besides, through those hard times, I managed to grow, you know? I learned more about myself, found I wasn’t alone…I grew to accept myself for who I was. I began talking to people around my church, who provided me with resources on how Christianity truly sees gayness, not just how the few, loud, bigoted voices see it. I’m okay now.”

Victoria smiled, unable to stop a few tears from forming in her eyes - she truly was a secret softy. Pulling Kate in for a hug, Victoria whispered, “I’m glad.”
