this easily stems from cobie smulders being canadian, as well as cobie's most famous role as robin scherbatsky. so then people are like well, maria could totally be canadian too

and i love it, i'm so here for it. because chicago and canada are cold, and icy, but then we also get hockey jock!maria hill and 'eh' and up north jokes.

and maria and natasha are both working for SHIELD which originated in the US, like help yes it's technically global but it was founded in america- even if it was largely founded by a bri'ish woman
