When Bucky told you he'd have to work with Steve in a mission for a few days, you'd said that you would be fine.
You could take care of yourself, you were sure you weren't gonna regress, sure you wouldn't get yourself in trouble. And you seemed convinced, so he didn't make a big deal out of it.
The first day went great: you went to work, cleaned around the house, got out with your friends after dinner and showered before going to bed. He had called you, you told him about your day and both of you went to sleep content. The second day was a bit more difficult, but still manageble. You had breakfast, but forgot your lunch on the table before leaving, and when you started eating dinner, Bucky called, and by the end of the call you forgot to finish your plate. The third day, your body was too tired to get out of the bed at all, and you only managed to clean the dinner table before collapsing again. When Bucky called, you assured him you were fine, just a bit tired, but adult. He told you that was great, because he was gonna go no contact for a bit since the area him and Steve were reaching didn't have signal. So you didn't hear from him for another few days, and the situation escalated. Your pain hit you worse than usual today, and not having Bucky there to help was really hard. Slowly, without even realizing, you slipped into little space, turning into a bundle of whines and cries and little kicks on the sheets. Bucky had called to tell you he was gonna come back that night, but you didn't reply, too small to register any sound out of the little bubble that was your bed. You were ashamed- Bucky had said he was so proud that you were all big now- but couldn't pull yourself out of that headspace for more than a few minutes. So when Bucky came in and found you all bundled up in the covers, achy, whiny and so, so small, his heart melted. He knelt down to your height, brushing your hair out of your face
"hi, sweetheart. How are we feeling today? You look so tiny" he smiled. You opened your eyes, rubbing them with your fists as you babbled something without meaning. Still half asleep, you felt a pair of strong arms picking you up and carrying you to the kitchen, and before you could react, a warm bottle of milk was resting between your lips. Bucky was whispering sweet nothings in your ear, and you were closing your eyes again. Bucky kissed the top of your head before pulling the bottle out of your mouth and making you bounce a bit. "Shh, don't worry kiddo, papa's here right now. Let's go to sleep, mhm?"

- He’s not strict, but he does give very simple instructions
“Okay it’s bed time cmon kid”

- if you whine too much about something, he’ll try to explain in his own way
“You gotta sleep kiddo, or I’ll have to deal with budget Oscar the grouch..”
- He still makes his references, but he might know more childish ones after becoming your cg

“What? No no, it wasn’t me kid. You should sleep now, you must be so tired with the way you’re imagining stuff..”

He’ll close the light and stand by the door until he hears that you’re snoring, then he’ll close the door and leave to work.
- If your playing a game with your toys, he’ll sit down and try to understand what the game is
“Wait wait, I need an extra cup of coffee for this..” he gets up to make his coffee, “hey kid! Do you want 2 cups of cream or one?”
You laugh and shake your head “papa you’re so silly I don’t drink coffee!” He acts dumbfounded and looks at the cup. “Whose is this then?” “Yours!” “Aha!” You laugh and he chuckles to himself as he goes back to sit next to you.
“Okay kid, now how do I play this game..”
you pick up your toys, you push the dinosaur toy to his face and his eyes widen
“Da evil dinos awe takin ova small town n I needa assemble my team to stop them!”
He nods along and sometimes adds to it, he acts super invested
“Oh wait so miss sparkle dino pink pop is not part of chicker’s farm team, she’s part of chicketo?”
You nod, and he nods and hums in understanding “ahh, interesting..”
- When it comes to punishments it’s totally different, he’s so easy going. It’s time out, sit in the corner for 6 minutes but the moment he hears a sniffle he can’t keep the tough guy act up. He’s the type to never play bad cop,
“Yeah well, you know if it was up to me I’d say you could but uncle Steve said no. I know what a buzzkill!”
- uncle Steve never said anything, but Tony wasn’t gonna be the bad guy
“I wish you could stay up, but Pep is insisting you sleep now, sorry kiddo.”
You pout, and he softens but still, to bed you go.
and for my baby regressors
- if your whining and he can’t find out what’s wrong he’ll go through every single thing one by one. The first 2 things he’ll be calm but by the third he’ll start to panic
“Cmon kid what’s wrong, is it this is it..” he changes the ac, he changes the lights, until you finally stop fussing and then he’ll sit down next to you on the couch covering his face and muttering in relief as you suck on your pacifier innocently.
- He wants to be everything to you that wasn’t for him, when you talk he’ll try he’s very best to make any sense of the babbling
- Super duper protective. Everything is baby proof, everything is soft and the corners are smooth and round and Jarvis is always on hand for anything
- He’s protective but not strict, oh you wanna put napkins everywhere? Go for it kid! Oh you want to put that germ infected dino toy in your mouth? I mean, tell me how it tastes. He doesn’t want to put too many rules on “trivial” stuff.
- He talks to baby you like an adult, and he might even rant out while you are quietly playing with your blocks
“I just can’t get my head around the arc reactor complex when the material I put was non functional with (yada yada yada)
- Oh if he had plans but you just do so much as let out a babble, he’ll cancel them all and stay home to take care of his little. He is gonna show up, he is gonna be there and he isn’t gonna let you go through things alone. Even if he can’t physically be there, he’ll do everything he can to be there as much as technology allows him to. It doesn’t take much to tell him your slipping, you just grab his finger or let out a too tired sigh and he’ll help you into little space.
dr strange cg headcannons!
- when you first told him, he understood right away. This man’s a doctor, he knows and he’s well educated. He’s really attentive and he makes sure when you regress it’s running perfectly well.
“Oh don’t you want your bottle?”
“I just think maybe If I bring that one blanket it’ll be better..”
“No no sit right there I’ll bring fluffles right away!!”
- now when it comes to bed time, food time, or time to clean up, he is not the same as stark but stern in his own way.
- He doesn’t use pet names a lot, he just uses the little name itself and maybe sometimes he’ll say sweetheart or kid but not a lot.
“No look <name>, you don’t go brush your teeth now I will have to make sure there is no tv time tomorrow, understood?”
It’s stern, but it’s not with a sharp tone. If he sees you don’t understand why you had to do something he’ll explain after you stop doing it.
“You cannot jump on the beds because the dust comes out and you, having asthma, will get sick and tired and maybe have an asthma attack which I can’t risk.”
- the cloak of levitation is downright obsessed with you, it’ll cradle you or bring you your toys or pick them go if they fell
- Or when Steven is scolding you it’ll go behind him and mimic him to make you laugh.
- He uses magic sometimes to amuse you but he makes sure not to overdo it, not wanting to be a bad influence. Doesn’t mean he isn’t subtly flexing his powers,
“Papa how are you gonna clean it so quickly that’s impossabal!!”
He just flicks his wrists and the mess is gone, you gasp ans clap and laugh. He smiles softly, acting cool like he doesn’t care even if secretly he really really does.
- you play hide and seek, he’s the type to know exactly where you are but pretend not to know.
“I’m right here!!”
He looks right beside you
“Here?”
“No no hahaha papa here!”
“Ohhh there you are, found you.”
- He’s not a fan of screen time but he does let you indulge sometimes, but only thinks he picks out
- When it’s story time, he’ll use his magic to make it more awsome, it may be too awsome and leave you too energized before bed
- He’s extremely patient when it comes to you, and secretly he waits for your woahs and wows after he does any magic trick.
