Growing up in District 2 was a breeze for Matt Samson. If you weren't in his good books, you had to be careful around him. He had a dark past and doesn't mind replicating it on a certain unsuspecting subject. His father was abusive to the point where Matt was used to bruises. One day, he decided to fight back and ended up with two broken ribs. After this, he trained even harder everyday, despite the pain he felt. He had to show everyone that he was ready to fight. 

He volunteered in the reaping. He wasn't going to delay it another year, he is in his prime. He is a skilled swordsman and is very strong. He is trained in hand-to-hand combat and has a stocky build. His injuries can slow him down, though, but not too much. He fights alone and doesn't like anyone else to steal the glory. His aim is set directly on bringing back glory to District 2

Matt doesn't like making friends and keeps to himself. He hates most everyone and brings a scary atmosphere. He is fierce. He, like other careers, is very cocky and is sure he can win this with his eyes closed.
