Thank you all so much for prompting and promo-ing! For this year's fest we have 115 prompts up for grabs! Hurt/Comfort has the most prompts with 46, followed by Fantasy/Supernatural with 39, and finally Mutual Pining with 30

And if any of those don't appeal to you, you can always self prompt!

Welcome To Marvel Undercover: Music Edition

Marvel Undercover is a prompt based anonymous fest for works inside the Marvel universe. We will have an open call for prompts based on this year’s theme (Music). Participants will then choose a prompt and create based on that prompt. Submissions will be posted anonymously on AO3 until final reveals at the end of the fest.

How It Works From Monday 11 May to Sunday 24 May Friday May 29, we will be accepting prompts. Prompts can be any scenario, from an AU theme, a quote or song lyric, canon or canon divergence, to a link to a photograph. Anything goes as long as all prompts relate to music in some way.

Submitting a prompt doesn’t obligate you to create anything for the fest (although that is very much encouraged!) and you may submit as many prompts as you like.

Claiming

Claiming opens on Monday 25 May Saturday May 30, and will remain open until Sunday 28 June Sunday, July 12. Claims will be first come, first serve through Google Forms.

Each prompt may be claimed once for fic, once for art, and once for podfic. You may only claim one prompt at a time, but once you’ve completed a prompt you are welcome to come back and claim another.

Posting

Once posting begins, you can submit your creation to our AO3 Collection, which is set to anonymous. If you need assistance hosting artwork or posting to AO3, the mods will be happy to assist. Submissions will remain anonymous throughout the duration of the event. A master list for the fest will be created and posted at the conclusion of the fest, with the creator’s identities revealed.

Rules & Requirements

Minimums

There is a minimum of 1,000 words for fics, and equal effort for art or podfic. Art may be traditional, edits, moodboards, etc. If you have an idea and aren’t sure about whether it fits, feel free to ask!

Content & Conduct

Submissions can be of any rating. All submissions must be tagged appropriately and thoroughly.

Please be mindful of portraying marginalized communities respectfully. This page from Writing With Color has a list of blogs and resources that discuss diversity in writing. Any prompts or creations submitted in bad faith, or that promote racism, transphobia, homophobia, etc. will not be accepted.

Participants under 18 may not claim or submit prompts that feature explicit content. Also, any creator under 18 must keep their own submission to a rating of T or lower.

Beta reading

All submissions must be beta-read and legible. If you need help finding a beta, please send an ask or an email. Art does not require a beta.

Anonymity

As this is an undercover fest, please do not post your work or discuss your work’s details publicly until after reveals.

FAQs

What characters are allowed?

Anyone in the Marvel universe including, but not limited to: comic verse, MCU, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, The Defenders, Xmen, Into the Spiderverse, Venom, etc.

What ships are allowed?

Any and all ships are welcome, as well as gen works with no ships.

Who can prompt?

Anyone is free to prompt! You do not need to create something in order to prompt, and you can submit multiple prompts.

Can I claim my own prompt?

Yes, just be sure to note that you intend to do that when submitting the prompt.

What type of works are allowed?

Fic, art, and podfic.

Do I need to sign up?

Nope! Simply claim a prompt when the time comes.

Why anon?

An anon fest takes away preconceived notions a reader might have when clicking on a link in AO3. It can also level the playing field for creators who might be lesser known. Plus, it’s fun to see whose works are whose during the grand reveal!

Marvel Undercover is an anon prompt based fest open to any characters in the Marvel Universe. This years theme is MUSIC! Posting will last for around two weeks so you have plenty of time to create. Fics are only a 1k minimum and all types of art including podfic are accepted! Posting ends on the 31st so you have plenty of time to create!

Sign Ups Open!

All Sign Ups for the Marvel Reverse Big Bang will open on May 1st

Art Sign Ups will run from May 1st to May 22nd!

In order for Art to be eligible for this bang is has to be new content and related to Marvel in some way shape or form.  A reverse big bang is unique in that the written work is based off of the art instead of the other way around!  Artist are welcome to submit up to 6 pieces of art for the Marvel Reverse Big Bang!

Author and Beta Sign Ups will run from May 1st to June 5th!

Authors and Betas will have the opportunity to claim the art pieces and collaborate with the artists to create a written work based on the art piece(s) claimed.  As of right now, there is a one art piece limit for claims.  After round 1 of claims is over, the mods will determine if we are running a second round.

Pinch Hitters Sign Ups will open on May 1st and run indefinitely.

Pinch Hitters are some of the most vital pieces of any bang.  If an author has to drop out of the bang for any reason, then the art piece will go to the pinch hitters.  Someone will then have a chance to pick up the art piece so this way it will not go unclaimed!
