OHMYGODOHMYGOD OH. MY. GOD.

so for the past two weeks i’ve been thinking no stop abt nwaaco because it’s just. so good. and i might be thinking abt it too hard, but i was thinking abt how there’s only 23 tributes, (seeing as there’s no d12 female tribute)and at first i was really confused because, seeing as there’s are cannon victors in nwaaco, i thought that you could just have lucy gray be 65 and die in the bloodbath, and van eck could just be like, an inherently evil person. and then i remembered marya’s fate in cannon. and i’ve had some really really stupid and wrong takes throughout this series but, foolishly, i’m just so enamored at the thought of marya mirroring lucy gray. and she haunts the narrative so so well. in the same way as aditi does. oh my god i’m so giddy i feel like that one elmo meme.

im reading this back and it cliterally makes no sense. i think i just miss nwaaco like my dead wife, and since i have no one to talk to abt it ,i might be going mad. anyways, love ur work!!! sorry for the crash out. loud AND wrong ig 😭

I did think about including Lucy Gray in the Quell but honestly anything with 12 is so far afield from what I'm doing with this AU that I have just decided not to touch it. I do love the idea of Mayra haunting the narrative like Lucy Gray though, and the connection between her and Aditi was always intentional. The parallels with Jes and Wylan and their family structures were a huge part of why they were both chosen as narrators in Bright Morning Stars (along with the wesper obviously), and I actually chose the title because the song references missing/dead mothers! So excellent job picking up on that

Based on all the people I've seen talking about how Wylan would start going bald like his father I wanted to point out that, although Jan and Wylan are said to look very similar to each other there is one dead give away.

Wylan's red curls. The same ones as Marya.

Wylan got his hair from his mother, so its safe to say Wylan would not receive Jan's unfortunate hairline and would at most just go gray.
